About
The American Heritage Museum at the Collings Foundation featuring the Jacques M. Littlefield Collection is a history museum chronicling the fight of the American soldier for freedom from the Revolutionary War through modern conflicts and the role that technology played in the battles fought. Told through over 85+ large artifacts throughout the 68,000 square foot museum, the AHM maintains one of the largest collection of operating tanks and military vehicles in the World from many nations including many rare examples such as a German Panther, a Russian IS-2, a U.S. M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo, an Iraqi SCUD B Missile and Launcher, and the only U.S. M1A1 Abrams tank on public museum display in the world. Visitors hear and experience the personal stories of those that fought or helped others fight through first-hand experiences like the World War I trench experience, engaging docents who were crew on tanks in modern wars, and the moving story of the crew of the M1A1 Abrams on display.

Professional high level museum with educational multi-media presentations. Great educational opportunities for all ages. Restored and non-restored tanks and other ground equipment used in wars from WWI through the Gulf War. Heart wrenching and emotional static and video displays. Knowledgeable staff to answer questions and provide information on the displays.

A must see for military vehicle enthusiasts. If you like military tanks, this is the place for you.
The museum arranged its collection of tanks by war/theatre. Each tank is set in an environment that takes you back into history as you read about them.
There are many one-of-a-kind tanks and military vehicles in the collection.
You can literally walk through the trenches from World War I while listening to the narration.
The main display is awesome! You can walk around each era and even sit if needed.
Elevators and bathroom facilities are available.
Finally, there is a guest shop, where you can purchase t-shirts and other memorabilia.
Be sure to budget time to explore the whole museum. About 2-3 hours will do.
There is ample parking.
The only issue we encountered is transportation the the museum. It is in Hudson.
At
The time of writing, there was no public transportation that got you from Boston to the museum. Maybe the museum can partner with Trip Advisor or Viator to provide a half-day tour from Boston.

We actually went in August 2020 but the drop down does not go back that far. This place is awesome on so many levels. It starts out giving you a feel of what trench warfare was like. There are so many vehicles from many different war fronts and seeing them is surreal experience.
There was an informative set about various vehicles, one of which was the Sherman tank.
If you are a fan of Military vehicles, this is a great place to go.
They also have an Automobile museum that is well worth seeing.

The website does not do justice to what you are going to see at this museum. The main warehouse space is beautifully laid out in chronological order and really showcases the evolution of equipment, especially armored vehicles.
It was fascinating to see the artifacts that are either the last or one of the last remaining in the world. The day we went there were maybe 10 other patrons. The staff who looked to be mainly veterans were very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall great experience and a can’t miss for those interested in military history!

I took my husband as a surprise for his birthday. Neither of us expected to see all the military equipment! It takes you through a timeline and has excellent signage. This is a must see for fans of military history, as my husband really enjoyed himself. The only downside was we wished we had gone through and seen the videos first because they did not play after 4:15 because they close at 5. Give yourself enough time for everything.

A high-quality experience! Very well done with an incredible collection if armor and equipment from WWI through Afghanistan and Iraq. Even a mobile Iraqi Scud launcher from the Persian Gulf War. -
And the Hanoi Hilton exhibit with video interviews is very compelling. This is a must-visit for historians and military buffs. Do not miss.

Truly amazing military museum. As good -- or better than -- the Smithsonian Institution. Displays an amazing and large collection of tanks and other mechanized armaments from World War I until the present. Amazing one of a kind items like a captured Scud Missile launcher from the first Gulf War, a chunk of the Berlin Wall, tanks from every conflict, and interviews with tankers and pilots. Gives thorough and informative information about each major conflict the US has been in so that you can understand the history. The number of tanks goes on and on, each one completely restored and fully explained to us as visitors. Our family spent the whole afternoon there and loved it!

I have had the pleasure of visiting this gem of a museum recently. It is simply a WOW. I have been to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C., the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, PA, and many others. So I feel I know what is a really good museum to the is a fair museum.
This Museum is a WOW. The collection is excellent, and the way the Museum was put together is wonderful. The Staff is simply amazing. This museum has it all and the best part its in my Home State. Even though its an hour away, I will make a point to visit more than once. You cannot go wrong.

What a great museum. I selected this because my husband loves military in history and we live locally. I was pleasantly surprised at the well planned layout of military equipment by period, as well as the high-quality production of movies along the way. There were tokens on hand to explain the first two parts of what we were seeing. I was a little disappointed that the docants that we’re on the floor (after the first two parts), we’re not more helpful to answer questions along the way. The restoration of the antiquated equipment was very well done, and they spare no expense in bringing them back to original life. Revisited on a Thursday and very few people were in there at that time which made our experience more pleasurable. Cute gift shop at the end and helpful staff at entrance and exit. Overall, I recommend we just like to see your participation in docants along the way.

It’s very educational Museum for older children and adults as well. It can tell you the story how the military equipment has been involved in the years, also showing the terrible experience soldiers had to face during the World War I. The staff was very friendly, and some of the vehicles exhibited in the halls quite unique and historical.

We plan to go to the WWII Re-enactment on Oct.12/13 and also to the museum. Are there facilities onsite for eating? Also are the Classic Car Barn and the Hanger included in the admission price?

No on site facilities for eating. I plan to go back to see the reenactment. I talked to staff about it they say it is amazing. Not only does the museum bring out their tanks but many people bring out there own private collection. They all said it is a must see
