About 7 Seas Whale Watch
Trip Advisor's #1 of 26 Tours in Gloucester, 7 Seas Whale Watch has had the privilege of introducing thousands of passengers to the many species of whales and marine wildlife that inhabit the waters from Cape Ann and out to the Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary. Our trips run from mid-April to mid-October and are designed to educate, inspire and provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of our fragile marine environment. We are a family business – Three generations of career captains have worked from this very dock for more than 7 decades. We have a love and respect for the marine environment and a passion for providing the best possible customer experience for you and your family. We look forward to seeing you on the water.

Had an amazing time on our Whale Watch, Oct. 23rd. We saw many humpback whales and a Finback as well. The naturalist onboard was amazing!! She was so knowledgable and made it a fun day (plus, it turns out, she lives in the next town over from us). My daughter and my friends daughter (both age 9) had the time of their lives. Thank you to 7 Seas for a beautiful memory.

Our first trip was cancelled last min because of high winds which makes sense just wish there was a way we could’ve known earlier before we arrived there since we live almost two hours away. We were able to successfully reschedule and go on the 23rd of October 2020. We didn’t board exactly at 1030 am but we did board at around 1040 and left around 11am. It took us an hour to get to the whale sanctuary and two hours looking for whales and seeing them. Along with one more hour to head back to shore. We were able to see two types of whales species (1 finback with her calf and 2 adult humpbacks with 2 calf’s). It was amazing. Although I had take two motion sickness pills one hour before boarding I did get very sea sick and it was embarrassing, the staff were so nice even with a whole Covid pandemic going on. They provided me with a new mask, paper towels and disinfected the area without making me feel awkward or horrible about what had happened. The staff were very knowledgeable about the whales as well. I highly recommend that if you do not know if you get sea sick even if you take motion sickness meds to sit in the cabin inside until you reach the whales because you can get sea sick regardless. There is a lot of moving around and it’s very cold out in the sea. Make sure to wear a sweater that zips up along with t shirt and long socks. Bring some money with you for some snacks that you can buy and head to gift shop after the whole four hour experience. I would do this trip again but stay in the cabin and stay away from the railing where most of the movement, coldness, and waves come and are felt. They have two bathrooms which is a plus.Thank you.

This was a trip I will remember forever. Despite rough water, some rain, and a bit of distance, we were able to see several different whales and a few porpoises, too. 7 Seas provided lots of informational commentary, as well as hand-on education about harbor life. I can't wait to ho again!
