My wife and I went on a 9 hour reduced capacity fishing trip 9/8/20. 20 fishing guests spread out across a large boat for 45 guests.
Beautiful views. We caught 15 fish and took home 8 large haddock keepers. Scenery, Weather and People were great. Staff was professional, friendly and helpful. We Highly recommend Yankee Fleet and will do it again soon.

June 3rd, it was a great day to go fishing. We sailed out to Jeffrey's Ledge. The ocean was calm, the boat was clean, the crew could not have been more friendly and helpful. There was an abundance of fish to catch. I caught a keeper Cod, and 10 Haddock and thankfully only one dogfish. Other people caught their limit for Haddock. and there were a few Cusk, Red fish, and a few other types of fish to be had. The captain moved several times to keep us on the Haddock. Due to COVID-19 they only had a fraction of the fisherman on board they would have normally carried, Pre-Covid-19.
I would strongly recommend them.

Congrats on running a professional fishing operation. I was very satisfied with the service I received at a very affordable price for an all day fishing trip. The first mate Matt is very committed to helping everyone out and I will be back out soon.

Had a great time fishing as many fish were pulled over the rail. As it was cod season you could keep 1 cod.

The majority of fish brought up were dogfish and caused many moves of the boat trying to find areas with less dogfish.

Second most popular fish was Cod and had to be thrown back once you decided to keep one.

People fishing jigs were the ones catching the most.

The female mate was usually cheery and helpful. The one male mate was completely rude to all that weren’t regulars on the ship. The third was decent but always acted rushed and didn’t have the time.

I know 2 of the three smoked not sure of the third. as was surprised that they just threw their butts overboard to just float around the boat while we were fishing.

All three acted like they were so exhausted instead of interacting with guests slept boat was moving. The rude one would complain they weren’t told something the captain announced clearly over the speaker.

Then when cleaning fish while similarity between cod, haddock and pollock all fish were filleted into one bucket rinsed and poured into one bag for the customers.

Still a debate whether to go with this company again.

Captain was friendly and communicated very effectively.
Female mate was fun, entertaining and very competent.
One male mate was judgemental and borderline rude when lines got tangled up on a full boat (inevitable).
The other male mate left half of the flesh when filleted my fish in a very rushed job.

Just finished full day trip. Caught lots of fish. Only issue I have is, so many people smoking on lower outside deck, when they are suppose to go to upper deck. Yankee needs to better enforce.

Yankee Fleet has always been my first choice for whale watching on the North Shore. So when my children and out of town family asked to go deep sea fishing, I didn't hesitate to book a trip with them. Our experience was absolutely appalling! The crew on board was incredibly rude and made my son feel like he was an idiot for not knowing how to operate the rod and reel. At first the catch was mostly juvenile fish which the crew made a point of handling extensively and then laughed when they threw them back and almost all died right there on the surface of the water. As the afternoon went on, many dogfish were being caught. My cousin caught a large dogfish that couldn't be knocked off of the line so a crewman had to bring it on board and remove the hook. He then asked us if we would like to feel it's skin because it felt like sandpaper. When my cousin hesitated he took the dogfish, bent it in half and started rubbing the poor creature as hard and fast as he could on the rail of the boat. We were horrified and asked him to stop, but he refused laughing as he continued with this behavior until blood started pouring from the fish's gills. Then he just tossed the poor animal back into the water leaving a huge puddle of blood on the deck of the boat. My children were totally traumatized! I am absolutely horrified that Yankee Fleet has fallen to this level. I will never return and I urge anyone who reads this to look elsewhere for deep sea fishing charters. There are many in the area. Oh, I forgot to mention that while they were killing almost every fish they touched, the crew was also smoking. A truly awful experience!!

We live 5 hours away and had planned and reserved this trip a few MONTHS in advance. After taking time off work and paying for hotels, Yankee Fleet called us 12 hours before our trip and told us that not enough people had signed up for that day and therefore the trip was not going to be 'profitable' for them and the trip was cancelled. I told them how much I had arranged for this trip and that we had already paid for hotels (and now had no reason to make the trip), but they did not care. I was really upset that they cared more about making $ than making their customers happy. They were not apologetic at all. Just imagine the stress of planning for months around this trip and then finding out the day before that it's cancelled. Not our fault not enough people signed up, we shouldn't have had to lose out because of it! Just don't count on this boat.

My wife and I booked a full day with Yankee Fleet in hopes of a fun day on the ocean. After we paid, the people inside disappeared and we had to look around for where we were supposed to go. Fortunately others were walking down to the boat and we found our boat. Once we got on the boat, no one said anything to us...we had to ask them where we were supposed to get our rods. This was after walking around the boat two or three times, not finding anyone who worked there.

We were given no instructions as to how to operate the reels. That wasn't a problem for the two of us as we fish regularly around home, however if there was anyone on board who hasn't spent much time on the water they would be lost.

On the phone when booking, we were told $75 per person and that included everything we would need. That is simply not true. Need a towel while fishing? $1. Need a new sinker and hook if you broke the line? $2 Need a burlap sack with ice to store your catch? $1. Need a plastic sack to store your fillets? $1. Oh, and like it or not, they fillet your catch for...you guessed it. $1/fish. The crew member who filleted my fish wasted a bunch of meat and when I rinsed the fillets to put in the freezer back at the motel I found lots of rib bones still there. What a joke, not even close to everything included in the trip.

My wife, who is four months pregnant, had to spend probably half of the day not fishing because the crew and others on the boat smoked. When the crew members, one of them the smoker, asked my wife why she wasn't fishing she replied that she was pregnant and had to avoid second-hand smoke. His reply, "there's always the upper deck." YOU CAN'T FISH OFF THE TOP DECK. The other crew member joked about his mother smoking while she was pregnant and he turned out fine. In other words, even though we were paying their wages, they weren't going to change anything, we were going to have to miss fishing time.

We did catch fish on the trip, it was slow for us on the side of the boat we were on...but that's fishing and has nothing to do with the negativity of the review. My issues were the rudeness of the crew and the false advertising from the lady who we booked through on the phone. The other patrons on the boat were great company, which is good since you are literally elbow-to-elbow with them.

To finish on a positive note, the crew was good about untangling lines when it happened (quite often), unhooking fish, and refilling the bait containers.

If we do make another trip to the East coast we'll definitely be going elsewhere for deep sea fishing.

They are in a position where they can get their boats filled (overfilled) with passengers almost all of the time due to their heavy national advertising so without making a good faith effort to get the boat on some fish, the fisherman is brought to areas of water that produce little fish (not counting sand sharks). Their prices are high and their interest in having passengers return is above seeing that they catch fish. There are many choices for which boat to go on within a 25 mile radius. It is best to seek an alternate port to go fishing.
