This is a gem of an attraction off the beaten track in historic Sandwich. A garden center, jam kitchen, wildflower garden, gift shop and nature center steeped in the history of author Thornton Burgess of Peter Rabbit fame. Well worth spending an hour or so visiting while on Cape Cod.

We had a grand time there. We first visited there nature center where there was a camp going on. There were volunteer docents who told us about the animals especially the baby hedgehog and others. After visiting the animals and talking to the volunteer children we went to the house and took a tour and they had a GREAT gift... More

As part of the Thornton Burgess museum, the Nature Center and Jam Kitchen is a beautiful restful spot to stop and appreciate nature as it was intended. There are programs for kids and the historic Jam Kitchen is an interesting throw back to when food was prepared using traditional methods and stored at it's peak or you didn't have any... More

We stopped by on our way into Sandwich. Cute place, although the "jam kitchen" only operates at certain times. Grounds are pretty and great for a few pictures. Nature center would be good for younger children. My guess is that they have good programs that you can register for or take your children to. For tourists, it's probably worth a... More

Green Briar Nature Center was part of the Thornton Burgess (yes, the Peter Rabbit author) museum. The author's house is in the center of the village but closed to the public a few years ago for lack of funds to maintain it. Green Briar is a mile or two east of the main village of Sandwich. If you see a... More

My husband and I love history and jam, so this place was a hit! The staff was so nice and we felt very welcomed! The historical library and information was really great. We bought four Jams and they have all been delicious! The little nature center was also open which was very cute! Would recommend for families of all ages!

THIS is where you go when you want to have an olde time experience. You can join a group or bring your own group and make jelly that you get to bring home!!! You can work side by side with excellent staff, in the old jam kitchen which resembles the ones our great grannies 'put up' fruits and vegetables from... More

We came here for my birthday request to make jam in the Jam Kitchen and were not disappointed with that experience! Very fun, great teacher (we had Nancy), yummy jam, cooked on burners from 1932!! The grounds are very pretty, nature trails, wildlife garden, Mr & Mrs Swan and babies, museum, library - very peaceful and fun. I especially enjoyed... More

My niece and I booked the strawberry rhubarb jam class. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything needed was provided and clear instructions given by Nancy, who was also a great resource for information beyond the class. The class started punctually and it was great to meet new people and listen to their questions and stories. We left with 6 jars of... More

Lots of jam to choose from and touristy things. Just like any other jam store anywhere else in the U.S. Friendly staff.
