We were given NO INSTRUCTION on navigating winds, the river current and tides during our stand-up paddleboard trip, even though we told the boy setting us up at the dock that we'd not done it before. The rental fee is supposed to include instruction. Our trip up river to the pond was wonderful, beautiful scenery and lovely activity. However as we approached the island at the top of the pond, the winds, current and tide took over. We were propelled to the end of the pond and when we tried to return to the docks, we got caught in the headwind, along with paddling against the wind and with the river current/ocean tide. We basically were paddling like crazy and going nowhere for an hour. I got beached onto the island and really wondered how in the world we were going to get back. It was a very stressful ordeal. If we had been instructed on navigation we never would have gone that far. Our 1.5 hour stand-up paddleboard trip turned into 3 hours. The girl at the front desk was very apologetic to us. All I can say is make sure you ask the right questions to avoid experiencing what we did. Ask about how to stay away from strong currents, how to make stand-up paddleboarding easier if caught in a headwind (sit down), which route to take depending on the tides, etc.

We are very Sorry to hear that your recent experience was not a great one. Staff are all trained to give instructions to all individuals going out on paddle boards. In your case, there was certainly a huge breakdown on that aspect. To help us improved and handle situations like this to be better in the future, do you mind writing us an email on when you were here paddle boarding? Do not get discouraged on this activity, it is a lot of fun on a nice less windy days. Thank you very much, we appreciate your feedback.

Really nice pond, but not great if you’re not experienced, as it is a lot of rowing. Still managed to do the whole thing with two teenage girls.

This is the second time we have used CCW. The place is well run, well organized and clean. The kayaking in either direction is picturesque and pleasant. Highly recommend.

Led a large group of friends here for a nice paddle. The staff were efficient and accommodating. There are two options for rentals, a couple of hours or whole day. We opted for the shorter trip after being assured we would not be penalized for being a minute or two over. (We were on time but it was kind of them to say) You can paddle to the pond or out to the ocean. As we had such a large group and some had little experience, we went the pond route. A good time was had by all. A few on the group were elderly and the staff deftly helped them out of their kayaks. Thanks! One last kudos- they gave a discount to ex-Service members.
