Venerable theater venue

"Second city" play was ok, not great, but this venue is special. Avoid the balcony as acoustics are marginal.

The Playhouse is an intimate theatre and the experience is as good as the performance. Second City was hilarious and topical. Seemed a fairly good chunk of the audience were not that amused ( but we were!). We try to go once a season, to see what we think will be the best performance. The pew like seats aren't plush... I bought tickets to see cabaret and was was looking forward to the show and my visit to cape cod.Unfortunately a week before we were to go I fell, broke my leg and needed surgery. I had to cancel the show and our entire 10 day vacation. I realize it is their policy no refunds or exchanges . this is... More

We attended Cabaret, while visiting the Cape recently. We found the operation first rate, and the talent abundant. It is one of the finest community theatres that we've been fortunate to experience. One issue we had was the comfort level of the seats. They are hard wood, and uncomfortable benches. They need to either add cushions or individual seats

We saw The Music Man. I did not think I would enjoy it that much because I loved the movie which had superb casting. I could not imagine that they would be able to do justice to it. The costumes were great. The actors were perfect. We absolutely loved it. It was as professional as a Broadway production. Worth every... More

Going to a show at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis is like a step back in time. A good one. America's oldest summer stock theater. Offers an eclectic variety of shows all summer long. Don't pass up an opportunity to see a show here. Reasonable ticket prices.

We saw Cabaret here last week and it was amazing. Top notch performers, sound, stage, and music. The playhouse itself is part of the Cape history, being a church first before becoming what it is today. It is fun to look around and see all the famous people who have been on that stage over the years. I have seen musicals... More

We enjoy the Playhouse for performances when visiting the Dennis area. This year their performance of Cabaret was like other performances we've seen there just superb. The show was excellent due to a wonderful and professional cast. The venue is a great place to enjoy a performance.

We went to see the first night of Cabaret. The performance started late but then they had built the entire stage from scratch in three days. Also waiting in the lovely grounds with a glass of wine was no hardship. The performance was good if not exactly broadway. The theatre however has a great character and ambiance. The building was celebrating 90 years as being a theater, an amazing accomplishment. The show was good and the stage and effects, though basic were executed very well creating a solid show. My one complaint was that they made me sit one seat behind my wife because those were the seat s we had purchased. Even though no one sat... More
