Terrible place
Jul 2019 • Family
NOT KID FRIENDLY. Extremely rude and unaccommodating. I rarely post reviews, but felt I had to for this place. They have a no stroller policy, yet they have a children’s section and children’s event...biggest oxymoron ever. Anyone who has little kids (especially pre-walking) knows how much you use a stroller inside and outside of places. I pack EVERYTHING in my stroller from milk to diaper cream, extra clothes, etc. They do not let strollers in the library. I wanted to take my daughter to an event at the library for her first time in Chatham. I did not want to empty my entire stroller, leave it outside UNATTENDED, carry both my baby and multiple bags all around the library. They must not have kids because anyone who does would know how terrible a policy that truly is. You should really revisit your policy. I have never been to a library that doesn’t let strollers inside. Terrible people.

Clearly and old library located right in the center of town. Just nice to walk through and feel like you are stepping back in time.
Lovely staff!

Genealogy Resource
Sep 2018 • Solo
The Eldredge Public Library of Chatham, MA is known to be a top resource for those doing genealogy research involving old Cape Cod families. I found this to be true on a recent afternoon's visit. They have extensive bookshelves full of vital records of Cape towns going back to 17th cent., family and town histories, research guides and indexes and much more. Think basic info as well as unique Cape books that are not on line. Best of all, on certain days there is a volunteer genie to help you. This is huge, to have a knowledgeable and helpful person spend precious time to find what you need. Plan to spend 3x more time there than you think, it is a treasure trove! p.s. the library itself is an historic and beautiful gem.

GREAT place to take the kids
Aug 2018 • Solo
The children's section of Eldredge library is perfect for the 4-10 year old set. A great way to fill a rainy morning, or any morning for that matter. Dress up, puzzles and other activities. This was a must on our vacations when our girls were young. Library seems well-geared for adults too...I guess I should get back there!

Visit the library all year round
Aug 2018 • Solo
The whole family loves this place. It’s in some ways a throw back to an earlier era while at the same time it consists of all the up to date amenities needed. The programming is very active and thoughtful. Ongoing Friends’ booksake downstairs is always full of recent publications as well as older ones that might be new to you. WiFi. Computers. Reading room. Daily periodicals. Large type books. YA. Children. Of particular interest to us is the genealogy dept. the building is a joy to enter. Love this place all around.

A welcoming old world town library
Apr 2018 • Family
The Eldredge Library contains an extremely varied selection of reading, including classic works and the very latest works including publications. There is a huge variety of activities in this exciting institution for everyone from the youngest to,the most mature reader. The library also sponsors a host of courses taught by an amazing group of local celebrities, everything from politics, history, film, music, gardening, and even golf. It is a true must to participate in the life of this cornerstone of culture when visiting Chatham.

Fun sharks!
Jul 2018 • Couples
Always a great place to stop and check out the different sharks displayed every summer. You can bid thru an online auction if one really catches your interest!

Don't miss the "Sharks in the Park'' art fund-raiser
Jul 2018 • Family
During a visit to lovely Chatham we thoroughly enjoyed the "Sharks in the Park'' art fund-raising exhibit on the lawn of the Eldredge Public Library. The art was incredibly creative and diverse. My favorite was the Labrador Retriever rescue shark.
