This beach offers incredible views and solitude. Visited several times over the years, but this time it was off season, waiting for a storm. Such calm and peace.

Nice sunny day to visit but would happy visit in any weather being a beach fan. Small car park near lighthouse, steps to beach. Small channel then sand bar-not wade out. Could see basking seals on the bar.

This beach is within walking distance from the house where we stay, parking can be tricky during peak times, especially if they are doing light house tours, but if you only have time for one Beach stop this is it get there early

We had a nice stroll along the beach taking photos and taking in the beautiful surroundings. We were also fortunate enough to spot a seal.

A very convenient pull-off of Rte. 28/Shore Rd. Pretty much at the "heel" of the "knob boot" that is Cape Cod. Facing the ocean, the Coast Guard station and lighthouse is behind you. Make sure your camera's ready (check-out the foundtrips pics)

I came on a rather cold day. Walked the beach. Took a picture of the lighthouse/coast guard area. Enjoyed a relaxing day! Heard locals talking about seals being around a lot and therefore sharks are in the water. I did not see any seals here,...More

Spent a late afternoon at the beach just before sunset (i think you can park there for as long as you want after 5) and it was a very eerie yet beautiful setting. The water was as still as any I have ever seen. Walk...More

When parking here you only have a short time but it's enough to take-in the views and get some photos.

Turn right when your back is facing the lighthouse and walk along the beach to the amazing “ natural art installation” made of flotsam and jetsam . It’s possible to walk there and back within the 30 min parking allowance . Ignore the coach parties...More

Great question! There is 30 minute parking in the lot along the road at the beach. It is enforced, and during the summer often not available. There is also a parking lot less than a mile away in Chatham center where parking... More

Ideas for our trip in August (10 Replies)
We are planning our first trip to Cape Cod and would appreciate any help from this forum. Travelling from Rhode Island (going for a wedding) and staying at Brewster (close to Nickerson State Park) from Sunday (Aug 16th) to Saturday (Aug 22nd). We have rented 2 cottages in Brewster and have kids age 4 to 18. We like the beach (Nauset Beach; Skaket Beach), fishing, crabbing, Woods Hole science aquarium, whale watching and biking, etc. Here is the itinerary I came up with the help of this...More

As to the whale watch I would go to Provincetown. Since the boats go to the same place you are closer if you leave from Provincetown. You can do a whale watch and sight-see in town depending upon how much you want to do in town. If you take an early or late whale trip you should have enough time. You might want to visit the Provincetown Museum and Pilgrim Monument, take an Art's Dune Tour, a Trolley ride around town, shopping, eating, etc.

I concur! Lighthouse Beach is NOT a swimming beach. Swimming at Lighhouse Beach in Chatham should be outlawed. We have seen one too many deaths here. 3 people have drown close to shore in the past 5 years, one of whom grew up in Chatham and by default grew up on Lighthouse Beach. He knew the waters, and still perished. With the shifting sands, the new break, etc, the rip currents are worse than ever, not to mention closer to the shore. Please folks, do not swim here. Enjoy the walks,...More
