Such a beautiful spot! If you go in the late morning you can see the fishermen off load their catch of dogfish. They are then trucked to New Bedford for processing and then shipped off to England for "fish & CHIPS". The harbor is also home to lots of birds and at least 5 seals. They are very active when... The Chatham Fish Pier has a number of resident seals that hang out and wait for scraps from the boats. They seem to be there any time of day, but their activity increases mid to late afternoon when the fishing boats return. It's fun to go watch them swim and eat. The Fish Market also has great fried clam strips,... More

Chatham is one area on Cap Cod that maintains the look of a New England fishing town. We had heard this was one of the best places to see seals and were told to go when the fishing boat were returning to unload for the day. It was fun to watch the seals swimming around the boats looking for a... More

The pier itself is the attraction and one worth going to. Parking is terrible - there were signs indicating that we could only park in the upper lot which was small and full except for 1 space we squeezed into. That is the only negative. There are public bathrooms available and the space is designed with visitors in mind. Down... More

One of our most enjoyable meals while in Chatham, MA was carry out from the Chatham Fish Pier and Market. The fish was very fresh and extremely tasty. Overall, one of the best meals we had while in Cape Cod. Definitely recommend.

We had been advised by a year-round resident of Chatham that the Chatham Pier Fish Market served the best fresh fish on Cape Cod. We arrived at the fish market expecting a sit down restaurant, but it was counter service. We sat on a bench on the backside of the building and that's when the fun began. It was around... More

As others have stated, this is a great place to make a quick stop if you have little kids particularly. There is an observation deck right over the pier so you can watch the fishing boats coming in and unloading. There are lots of seals near the pier waiting around for discarded fish. We were there around 1pm and saw... More

Fun to watch the fishing boats come in! We also saw a number of seals trying to get a snack from the fishermen.

What a great place to hang out and watch local seals swim and play. Loved to see them in their habitat. So curious and funny. Kids would love this. I took some cool pictures of them while here and can say it was a fun way to pass time. You should grab food at the fish shack and go and... More
