I just had the most extraordinary experience with Chatham Village Market. I live in GA, and my daughter in Boston. She was visiting Chatham for her birthday with friends. I wanted to send over 2 bottles of very expensive champagne for their celebration. Not only did Chatham Village Market have the exact champagnes I wanted to send, but they were willing to chill it, gift bag it AND write a card for me for her to pick up!
The customer service of this market is off the charts! They could have just said no that I was asking too much, but it was a spur of the moment situation that they willingly accepted to do in the most gracious way. I simply cannot rave enough that on the multiple calls I gave them concerning this, they went WAY above the call of duty to make my wish happen. This is the kind of store you want to support! Thanks again Chatham Market staff!!!

Located at the edge of downtown Chatham, Chatham Village Market offers a great variety of food. For a small, locally run business, the owners pride themselves on providing the best in baked goods, meat, fish and more. A few of our favorite items include their croissants (they rival those in France), Cranberry Bread and Cookies, local seafood (their Lobster Roll is a bargain and stuffed with fresh lobster), Rosemary Lamb, Steaks and so much more. You can enjoy the local hospitality in the bustling market as the staff works hard to provide customized service. The meat market will prepare special cuts of meat while you wait. Make sure you check out the local ice-cream from The Creamery. One more reason to support this fine establishment - they are very generous in supporting local non profit organizations and community activities.

i shop frequently at the Chatham Village Market.Actually i am in there every day. I love the selections of meats ,fresh fish daily and deli prepared foods. The staff is friendly and pleasant. If I can't find something someone walks me to the location of the item. The meat cutters will cut anything you are looking for. The chef who prepares the cooked foods will honor any request if it is possible on the same day. The deli staff manage to handle 5 or 6 customers at a time . The wait time is minimal considering how busy they are. The cashiers and front people are extremely pleasant .Overall the whole experience is a 5 out of 5.

I went in there and presented myself to the meat counter where I was told by some friends I could get some really nice dry aged steaks. The fellow behind the counter (that I later find out is the owner) pulls out a whole ribeye that was aged about 2 weeks and I tell him I would like 3 1 1/2 inch steaks. They're about 24 bucks a pound. He says they will go in the back and cut them. In the mean time, I'm chit chatting with my college buddy and inadvertantly place my hand on the glass meat case. Some woman runs up to me and asks me if "I want any Windex", and thrusts some paper towels in my face. I was at first befuddled and said "Excuse me?"
She repeated her statement and began snearing. I finally figured out she was displeased that I had dared place my palm on her work of art meat case. She stomps off and my friend and I are rather bemused.
The same fellow who helped us before comes out and says it'll only be a few minutes more, at which point I thought it an opportune time to relate the prior experience to him, as the woman was overtly rude and needs to be set straight by someone. He asks me to point out the person, which I do, then he turns and says, "Well it wouldn't be nice if someone walked up to your car and put their hands on it"...
WTF???!!!!
I told him that I really don't care if people put their hands on my car, but I am a paying patron in his establishment and I feel I was treated disrespectfully by an employee of his. At that point I told him, "Keep your steaks".....

I own a home in Chatham. I pay taxes on my home, respect my neighbors and their proprties and I regularly spend money at local businesses in Chatham including the extremely overpriced Village Market. And almost without exception, the cashiers (an older woman is a repeat offender) yell across the checkout aisles to "locals" about "missing 'old Chatham'" or "only two more weeks" (of summer) to have deal with us awful people who make their jobs and local businesses possible. This eggregious, overt rudeness to my family has made me avoid ever shopping at the Village Market and without exception, when I have to resort to shopping there in an emergency, the cashiers say nasty things. I am so angry and sick of this that I will copy this message and post it wherever I can. In terms of the product they sell, they have yet to step into the decade and sell unprocessed food I prefer the Natural Food Market any day.

Today was my first day living in the charming town of Chatham where everyone is nice and makes you feel welcome which is refreshing since having lived in big cities. That was until I visited the Chatham Village Market. After looking around and then ordering some deli meats I needed to use the restroom in which I entered without any merchandise I might add. Upon exiting I was confronted by the owner Bob in front of customers and accused of stealing meatballs. Really.... meatballs, where would I have hidden them . After hearing enough of this the NY in me came out.The police arrived and I was treated like a criminal. After reviewing the videos , searching of all places including the restroom, and speaking to the clerk who accused me of this ridiculous crime I was given a measly apology and told that I could leave.. believe this as it is the truth, I asked that you think of this before considering shopping there. The only reason there is a star as I had to give it

My wife brought home a pie from the Chatham Village Market. It's in a plain brown box with two printed labels on the top from what looks to be a computer printer. One proclaims STORE BAKED, the other the type of pie.
There's a third label on the front of the box that says IN-STORE BAKERY and has the price.
So you'd think this was a locally made pie with good ingredients. NOPE.
On the bottom of the box is the tell. Made in the USA by SatisPie, Rochester, NY. Ingredients contain high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, and modified corn starch.
Pretty sleazy, don't you think?

Everything is excellent there. Shop the back of the store counters. Service is excellent. It is god that they retained the downtown market that had a lot of petitions and signatures to save it when CVS came in. Everything is well done in this local market.

Usually if the prices are this high in a grocery store, the quality is quite good. In the groceries we bought for 128.00 dollars, there were one or two things that I thought were reasonably prices. (Lemons, onions ... maybe the feta?) The quality was also questionable in some cases. I bought kale which wasn't that fresh and tomatoes where a couple of the cherry tomatoes were starting to go bad at the bottom. This is unacceptable if I'm paying top dollar for produce. Once we found there was a Stop N Shop nearby, we never went back to this store again.
In spite of what other reviewers have noted, we found the workers in the aisles very helpful in helping us locate items.
It felt like a tourist trap in some ways, and it was our first encounter with Chatham, so it put an initial sour taste in our mouths about our stay on the Cape.

I own a home on Cape Cod but not in Chatham. Yet, I go out of my way to shop at the Chatham Village Market because of their fine quality foods and fresh product. At the market, they make several prepared foods that go above and beyond what I have seen at other markets with such an array of choices, my favorite is the chicken marsala and their store made quiche. They also make great sandwiches if you are headed to the local beaches. Their meats are fresh, high quality, and the butcher shop is always willing to accommodate my needs. On several occasions, I have asked for something in particular and have never been turned down, the staff is always friendly and willing to help. I've also noticed the store to be clean and have never had a problem with the freshness of their product which is important to me. I always support small business but this place is truly a gem, definitely worth stopping at next time you are hungry and in Chatham!
