Enough rocks to give plenty of shocks. We were expecting freezing cold water, but it wasn't that bad and we had a great time.

Had an awesome day tubing down the river with my family. Getting accurate times on the water release is key to a successful float. We had kids as young as 5 and up to 60+. Wear water shoes for safety when feet are in the water, otherwise rocks can be slippery. Wished we had gone a little farther up the river because we were bummed when it was over, even though we went several miles. Will totally do this again when we are in Mass again!

Had scenic views of the river from Rowe to Zoar. This is also a beautiful area to explore with free picnic areas as well.

The Great Outdoors at 78 Main St., Charlemont, MA is a Shuttle Service, Tube and Kayak rental service located right on the Deerfield River in the center of Charlemont.
We have our own kayaks but needed a life vest which we purchased from their store while arranging a return shuttle to our start at the Zoar Picnic Area.
We had a wonderful time riding the daily water release on class I & II rapids using our basic plastic kayaks paddling from the Zoar Picnic Area to the take out at The Great Outdoors. They had a nice hot fire to warm up after changing out of wet gear using their changing rooms.
We did not have to wait long (less than 5 minutes) for our shuttle back up to pickup our truck. I look forward to returning next summer!

My family and I had a great time. The river is very nice and the rapids are level 1-2 and 3 are very cool to do. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable about the river and some historic facts. Good times.
