We did the "Gap" white water rafting with level 2 to 3 rapids.
We had a great time on Sunday. We did the gap tour since we had some tweens in the group. I felt our guide, Bob, was outstanding and reassuring to people of all ages in the group. He was engaging with the 13 year olds as well as the adults, and even learned the names of the kids from the raft our friends were on. It’s obvious Bob knows the river like the back of his hand and seemed to guide the boat with great skill, while also watching out for the other two rafts on our trip. My kids are already looking forward to next year when we will try the more advanced trip.

Thanks, Steven. Bob has been part of our community for over 25 years and continues to have a passion for rafting. We will hopefully see you all on the Dryway next year!

Our group of four had a great day zip lining with Michael, Abby, and Devon. Even with COVID-19 impacting their business, everyone was professional and we felt safe all day. We had to wear masks while zip lining, which kind of sucked given that it was 85 degrees outside, but you’re face to face on small platforms in the trees, so I appreciate that they took the precautions seriously. My only complaint about the day was that we didn’t get water at any point...3 hours in the afternoon heat and we were pretty thirsty when we got back to our car...we just sucked it up and enjoyed the ride.

Thank you! Glad you had a great time. We now place a cooler halfway through the course so you can have a water break, socially distanced of course!

Zoar Outdoor was chosen to launch the scouting year for Leominster Troop 477 by one of our own scouts.. If you've always wanted to try white water rafting, this is who you should choose to "take on the river" with!

All the staff there is wonderful and very friendly, informative and know their stuff. Our 3 guides Cora, Graham and Haley were quite knowledgeable about the river and prepared us for what was to come so there was no guessing (but still anticipation) of what excitement was "around the bend!"

This was an " intermediate level" excursion. I believe it was exciting enough for most people as there really weren't many rough patches of water to navigate.

The Deerfield River makes for a wonderful, picturesque trip as it lies at the base of one of the Berkshires prettiest valleys (Deerfield Valley). We were always on the lookout for wildlife when we were on our calmer stretches of water. Many people were out that day tubing the river as well and we exchanged pleasantries as we passed by dozens of others enjoying the fine day we were given by Mother Nature.

Hard to say which was the all around favorite activity....from "surfing" to 360's to learning to row when needed....it was all a great time and great exercise too!

I cannot recommend Zoar Outdoor highly enough; if this is an activity you've wanted to try---Like the commercials say: JUST DO IT!

Taking a private Kayak clinic was a great experience. Steve was an amazing instructor who allowed me to explore so many aspects to being on the river in a Kayak for the first time. He was communicative, knowledgeable, and I felt comfortable enough to push beyond my comfort zone because I knew he was fully capable in rescuing etc. As we met up with other boaters on the river, all were friendly and extremely supportive to my being a newbie. My only complaint is that I had not done this sooner!

Thank you! I’ll pass this on to Steve. I’m sure he’ll be happy you had a great time. We’re excited to have you join the paddling community. See you on the river!

Was a great trip. Weather was on our side. No rain!! We did an all day trip with lunch. It was a very long in my opinion. I can’t imagine it if the weather wasn’t good. Lunch on the trip was simply perfect. Basic slice meat roll up sandwiches. Macaroni salad, chip and salsa, and cookies. Water was provided as well. This was a very easy river to navigate ( with your guide of course). Only one spot in the river which was tricky. Our raft did not flip but one raft did in our group. That said they do not recommend bringing your phone. I wish the whole time I had a camera. So if I had to do it again I would have brought my older go pro. We did a family trip and we have two rafts. I wished I captured our memories 😩 Zoar does take pictures at only one location the class III rapid I mentioned. You can purchase pictures. They will send you a link. I think the price is 1 for $20 5 for $40 and all pictures of your raft $55. This was my first time rafting and it was good. Guide seems knowledgeable. Very relax environment! Good for families.

We went as a family of four on the Family Float Trip. After the initial trepidation of the safety video we were reassured that our trip wasn’t anything like we’d seen! The instructors were excellent - extremely knowledgable about the river and the skills required, and the trip was superb. Despite being the reluctant one in my party about the whole thing, I would heartily recommend this activity and this group to go with. Good cookies at the end too! Thanks Zoar!

Headed out for a zip line trip with my kids. Unfortunately one of my them had an unbreakable sudden fear of heights causing me to end my adventure essentially before it began (because he was under 18). Haley, Liv, and (the bonus) Kyle were so great handling the situation. They took my other two on, what I’m told, an amazing adventure through the trees. Thankful that they were allowed to continue. The manager, Megan, was fantastic, gave us a ride back down and was kind enough to refund our two tickets (which I honestly wasn’t expecting).

Even though I personally did not get to soar through the trees I was beyond impressed with the staff, from beginning to end and I hope I get to come back and have the same wonderful experience.

This was our second trip to Zoar, a few years back we stayed in the tree houses and did the white water rafting. That trip was excellent so we were happy to see they added a zip line course. The same professionalism was found in the staff this time. Our guides Gus and Austin were great, more than just zipping, constant pointers on the history of the forest and all that was in it. Being the father of a 14 year old boy and a former Marine I am always looking for ways to challenge my son and broaden his horizons. The zip line course was a home run. The course starts light and, picks up speed fast, there are plenty of times to opt out but no one did. There were at least a dozen zips (all different) three repels (your just on for the ride) and two rope bridges. To quote my boy “it’s better than any ride a Disney! We look forward to coming back and bringing the girls.

Zoar Outdoor has 11 zip lines nestled in the trees that start out easier and get progressively faster and longer. It is good for someone who is a little nervous and has never done it because you can start out smaller and at any point you can decide to stop. The two guides that took care of our 8 person group were friendly and very safety conscious. They explain every zip line before you go on it to give you tips and prepare you for that particular zip. The jeep ride up to the top to start is fun too. The fastest Zip goes about 35 miles per hour. In comparison the ski resort zips like Berkshire east tend to be faster (about 50 mph), and longer zips. You may get less than 11 zip lines and may not get a 3 hour experience. They are more in the open air so you won't get the sensation of zipping though the trees.

This is a helpful comparison and I appreciate your thoughtful review of our canopy tour and our competitor's zip lines. Hope to see you again soon!
