After getting 4 inches of fresh white stuff, they groomed much of it for some great corduroy for first tracks at 9am. Underneath lies solid ice. Accomplishing 16 runs in 4 hours of actual skiing made my legs feel tired. I called it quits on my last run because I came flying down in the shadows to the sunny wet snow that pretty much stopped my skis. I was still going 40mph though, so I think the backs of my skis literally came up off the snow. My face was surely going to plant itself in the soft snow, but somehow I stayed upright. It wasn't pretty and I yelled something vulgar.
So I skied directly to the car, which I had parked right at the base of the Magic Carpet. I swapped ski boots for sneakers and was on my way in a minute, not having to lug skis, boots, and poles and a backpack and boot bag to the car. I was already there.
The sun was warm and I must have gotten some good UV rays, as I took my gloves and hat off as the afternoon rolled around.
I reloaded my card prior to arriving for $35 for a day pass, and went right to the lift. The electronic gates only registered me once, on my 13th run. The rest of the times I skied into the ski patrol lane or put on leg in front of the other and slipped through the gate. (I could have saved $35).
Tomorrow's warm weather and Saturday's rain turning to snow event will raise havoc with the conditions. It was a good workout and many people just sat in the sun outside the lodge listening to the blasting music.
I got to see the broken wind turbine atop the mountain, and put a photo below.

I booked a rafting, camping, and DH biking trip for my son's Boy Scout troop. Tiffany Holder was my booking CS agent @ Berkshire East. There was a lot of moving parts with a group of 18 ppl, which included several changes. Tiffany was so accommodating and nice, and recommended trip insurance which came in very handy as several people had to cancel a portion of the trip last minute.

The river guides were very funny and excellent at their jobs- no other rafting tour ever had us do some of the stuff they did in the rapids. The mountain coaster was great, shiny & new and instilled confidence. The food on site was good too.

What more can I say about Thunder Mountain? Berms were improved since last fall, and the mechanics were super helpful and courteous. They let me borrow tools and got my son's brake issue resolved quick.

Did I mention the campsites have cabanas? Okay, woode sheds but I secured our bikes with a padlock that I had and the evening was quiet and comfy for car camping.

I recently took a day trip to the Berkshire East Mountain resort with my family to do the Mountain top Zip lining Canopy tour. We had six of us .Their was four adults and two Children. My husband has never been zip lining before, and was feeling very anxious prior to his arrival. When we arrived ,we were greeted with the most wonderful staff at the front desk . When it was time to meet with our instructors ,we were taken into a part of the lodge where we received our Harness along with specific instructions on how to put them on We were also informed on how our tour was going to play out from beginning to end .We then proceeded to the chair lift and went up to the mountain with our tour guides. We then proceeded to an area once we got off the chair lift where the instructors would give us the rest of our gear
We hiked just a short distance to the first zip line ,and at this time we were all feeling a little anxious ..I must say that Hanna, and Alana were just amazing !!! They made everyone in the group especially ,my husband feel so comfortable and safe ..After the first zip , we had no more fears ..As we proceeded to the other six zip lines , the instructors were always focused on the safety and priority of our group ..Hats off to a wonderful day ..I would highly recommend this zip trip !!

I've been skiing here for about 30 years off an on. The mountain itself is pretty good for local skiing and while it ices up pretty quickly the groomers do a decent job. The café is very good and the food is continually fresh and hot. The ski patrol is awesome. They have helped many people on the mountain while I have been there with great care.

Now for the rest. First, there are signs all over the resort requiring masks indoors, the staff is all masked but almost nobody else masks and the staff does nothing to correct it. Either enforce the regulation or take the signs down. I'm not pro or anti-mask but if the law requires it and people are making the trip based upon "perceived" safety issue then it needs to be enforced. Second, the lift management is the worst I have ever seen. The line for the lift requires that you go downhill from the lodge and then climb back up to the scanner (really?). Next, the line on Friday night was so long and they still kept sending singles up. I get covid but we are outdoors and on the quad you can be on either end with the 3foot CDC spacing. Why send up 2 or 3 singles in a row when you have a 15 minute wait in the line? Next, the outdoor area is very icy due to the fact that they use propane heaters which melt the snow and turns it to ice. There has to be a better way. Not even sure why the heaters are needed since very few are masking indoors.

The mountain is close and has more positives than negatives but for the money and experience there are better options not too much further away.

The place itself is fine for a small mountain. Some of the staff make it a place to avoid. This weekend, my daughter drove home from college in New York to go skiing and take some snowboard lessons. Not only did she make the special trip home, but the ride out to the mountain was an additional hour, all to find out that there was no one there to give her lesson which had been confirmed the night before by phone. The most they were willing to offer 'to make it right' was to "maybe find someone who could do a half hour lesson, but at no discount".
Maybe business is so good that they feel treating their customers with a little respect is unimportant. I don't run my business that way, because I know people have options. I take no pleasure in leaving bad reviews, but Berkshire East doesn't seem to leave you with options for 'making things right' any other way.

Signed my 13year old son up for the rope corse. Hour and a half with a lower and up corse for $35 was a great price. However he was grouped with 8 other people, all who got trained at the same time and start the corse at the same time (all must do the lower corse first) . My son was nice and let 6 of the 8 people go before him, so while up in the corse we has waiting much of the time for them to get across so he could take his turn. When finished with the lower corse he was told he only had 20 minutes left and that wasn’t enough time to do the upper corse, mind you the only reason it took so long for him to finish in the first place was because we stuck waiting for the people in front of him. He enjoyed himself but was sad he couldn’t do the upper corse . They really need to find a better way to stagger the start of people so that others dont get held up and lose some of there time.

We are visiting family in Charlemont and spent yesterday afternoon at Berkshire East. While our family has a season pass & skis nearly every day, we had not been on skis for more than 20 years! I am not in a position to judge ski conditions, grooming etc. , I can state without a doubt that the overall customer service experience at BE was first rate. From the pre-arrival phone call, answered promptly, thoroughly and in a friendly manner, to every person we encountered at BE, they went out of their way to provide a good experience for us. A special shout out to the lift operators who were very accommodating my requests to slow it down a bit for my on/off lift moments. A fun day. We look forward to experiencing their year round activities on future visits

It is usually a friendly and well-maintained facility, with a nice mix of trails. But on Feb. 17 it came unravelled. Rental skis were sold out by 8;45 a.m. In late morning two of the three chairlifts broke down. One was restarted over an hour later, not sure about the other one, which also had a similar breakdown a few years ago.

We went with our two kids (ages 11 and 15) to Berkshire East for a 3-hour zip-line tour of the mountain. Our two guides, Meghan and Hannah, were excellent. They were enthusiastic, friendly, engaged, and careful. The scenery was beautiful. I would highly recommend this experience for families visiting the Berkshires.

Excellent. I got my 15 yr. old grandson outside. It was very hot, but all managed with masks. I sat outside and waited for him. All bikers were extremely courteous, distance and masks. Registration was easy, plenty of space to social distance. My grandson wants to go back when he does not have to wear a mask zip lining. It was just so hot. And he wants to bring a friend. His first comment was, “ the views were beautiful”. I am so glad that outdoor activities are thriving...
