Disorganized Place, Not Safe during Covid Pandemic
Feb 2021
It seems that they oversell tickets and can’t handle the large number of customers. It starts with a tiny parking lot which cannot accommodate all visitors. They do provide a shuttle from and to the nearby larger parking lot though which is helpful. It took me 45 minutes from the moment I arrived to the full parking lot to the time I got to the ticket booth after driving to the other lot and waiting for a shuttle. Once I got there, it was hard to figure out where to go for what because of limited signage and scarce number of employees to help. After figuring out which line to stand in, I waited for about 10-15 minutes in line to get tickets which were purchased online the night before. Then I stood another 1 hour and 10 minutes to get the rental, again purchased online the night before - pictures of the line to the rentals are attached. There was no social distancing. We were all standing very close to each other because there was not even enough space to stay further apart. After I got my rental at 2:30 pm, I have already lost 1.5 hours of the time paid for skiing. My ticket was covering from 1 pm to 5 pm. There is only one chair lift because this is a small place. Because there were so many people we all had to wait in line to get on said lift. This place just felt like we all came there to stand in line. It would be completely fine if they limited the number of visitors since it seems like they were way over their capacity, especially considering we are jn the middle of the pandemic. I would definitely not be back again. If you do decide to give it a try, get there about 2 hours prior to your scheduled skiing time if you are going to need a rental. Or if you rent somewhere else or have your own equipment thing will move faster, except for the chair lift of course.

Blue Hills is a tiny utopia to hide from grimy, industrial nature of its surrounding. That uphill trek is definitely not for the faint-hearted, but the views are worth the effort. Just a heads-up, there is nowhere to purchase drinks/food when you reach the top. Also, some people are less inclined to pick up after their dogs poop halfway up the hill.

This is a great spot for beginner skiiers. The ski school is excellent and the beginner area is spacious and perfect for new skiiers. The magic carpet is very easy to use and offers 2 levels which was great as my kids progressed through the day. By the end of the first day on skiis both my kids were able to go on the ski lift to the top of the mountain and had no difficulty making their way down the easier trail. The day we were there there were only about 3 trails open (the snow was melting so only trails that had snowmaking were open). Although it's not a very big mountain, it fit my kids beginner level perfectly. Great for families! Nice large lodge area with plenty of food.

This is a fun, usually well-maintained hill that's good for a quick outing with a friend or family member. The ski school gets good marks: my kids all learned to ski at Blue Hills. But aside from two magic carpets, Blue Hills has only a single lift: a 60-seat double chair to the top of Big Blue.

Go on a day when it's not crowded and the conditions are pleasant and you'll have a great time. You can also make this observation: if you don't dawdle too long at the top, and ski (on just about any trail) back to the bottom of the lift, you stand a pretty good chance of ending up on the same chair number as on the your previous run. In other words: it takes about the same amount of time to ski down this hill as it does to ride back up.

While we were noting this fact with some amusement (it probably holds true at plenty of other ski areas!), and enjoying a fine, sunny day on the slopes, we did the math. The total capacity of the lift is 120 people. If there are more than this many people skiing, the excess will end up in the lift line. Given that the prices are hardly a "bargain", then, this is a place to avoid if it looks like it's getting crowded at all.

Most of the trails, except for "Big Blue" itself, are great for intermediate skiers. There's one cruiser on the outside, "Sonya", which has no snowmaking and is therefore rarely open-- and worth trying once when it is. Beware that it dumps you out at the bottom of the beginner area with a 6-foot hill to climb and then a long trek back to the lift.

The lodge is fine and food is reasonably priced; rentals were quick and courteous.

Probably one of the world's smallest ressort for the price of the Alps greatest ressorts.
After paying 40 $ to get the privilege to ski the 300 ft only single slope during 4 hours, you get the chance to do a 1h 30 line to rent skis....
My wife was thrown out while walking with our baby because she was "walking on a snow surface" and "you need to buy a ski-pass to be on any snow surface".
This is without a doubt the world's worst ski resort.

Unfortunately the winter has not been kind to Blue Hills but it’s very convenient and gets the kids snowboarding when we can’t get to a bigger mountain. We have frequented the mountain over the years. My daughter learned to snowboard in the school there. We’d recommend.

Poor customer service; clueless staff; don't return messages; left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. Scheduled a private lesson and when we got there there was no instructor. Had to waste 10 minutes waiting while they paged someone. The actual instructor was good. I wanted to do another with him and he said request him next time. Attempted to do so but it was an ordeal. Left a message on a Tuesday, didn't hear back, called Thursday, again voice mail. Reached a live person Friday who said they'll check if that instructor is in. Didn't hear back so I call next day and yet a different person said they don't know if he'll be in on Sunday, but will make a note of it but no guarantees. Really? You want me to pony up $160 and you can't tell me after a week of messages if the instructor is working Sunday? Neither I nor my family will ever go to Blue Hill again. Here we come Wachusett.

Without doubt the most dis-organised kids ski lessons that I have ever been at. Parking is very bad. One week I sat there wondering where my kid was along with other parents and it turned out the instructor had taken them back to the lodge via the back of the hill, without telling any of us.
The next week, they didn't have enough instructors so classes of different grades were merged

Not a bad little ski area considering you can see Boston clearly from the other side of the mountain.

This is a very small mountain. One double chair lift that is very old and slow, but again you can't expect something super high end for such a small family run mountain.

Be prepared for a slow ride up the lift but if we've had any good amounts of snow expect to get some pretty good short quality runs. From the chair you'll find a couple of blue and black trails. Beginner, green trails are only available via surface (carpet) lifts.

I did not attend a lesson but did hear the instructors talking and teaching the younger kids a few times and seemed like they were doing an excellent job. Based on the number of kids I saw in lessons I can only suspect the lessons are good.

I would not make a special trip to this mountain but if you are local to the area and don't want to drive over an hour away for a larger mountain definitely worth the visit. I live right in Canton so it's a great place for me after work.

Great local skiing. Fun time with the family. Close to Boston so it's a fun family activity to do together.
