Unfortunately the winter has not been kind to Blue Hills but it’s very convenient and gets the kids snowboarding when we can’t get to a bigger mountain. We have frequented the mountain over the years. My daughter learned to snowboard in the school there. We’d recommend.

I love the map I bought for $3 at the gift shop it was handy and excellent. I did not buy any of the tours so I can't speak to them. The trails are very well marked. Moving downhill from the top on the trails was steep and rocky. But doable for an average middle age couple. I'm 73, she 65 and in fairly good shape. There are numbered location markers on the trails and I would circle them on our map as we past. That way I knew where I had been and what the next marker I was looking for. In addition the trails are marked with many painted circles. It is a huge park and knowing where you are is important. Should you need help you could pin point your location easily. "I am on Walcott trail BLUE between 1004 and 1005". There is a small but interesting zoo with a dozen or so local animals. I would recommend good boots, water bottle and a snack to make things more pleasant and don't forget a pencil to mark your map. We had a great time and will return again and again. We ran into many groups with small children, note not every trail is good for them so ask the rangers which are best. Cheers and Happy trails to you....

Poor customer service; clueless staff; don't return messages; left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. Scheduled a private lesson and when we got there there was no instructor. Had to waste 10 minutes waiting while they paged someone. The actual instructor was good. I wanted to do another with him and he said request him next time. Attempted to do so but it was an ordeal. Left a message on a Tuesday, didn't hear back, called Thursday, again voice mail. Reached a live person Friday who said they'll check if that instructor is in. Didn't hear back so I call next day and yet a different person said they don't know if he'll be in on Sunday, but will make a note of it but no guarantees. Really? You want me to pony up $160 and you can't tell me after a week of messages if the instructor is working Sunday? Neither I nor my family will ever go to Blue Hill again. Here we come Wachusett.

Blue Hills is a tiny utopia to hide from grimy, industrial nature of its surrounding. That uphill trek is definitely not for the faint-hearted, but the views are worth the effort. Just a heads-up, there is nowhere to purchase drinks/food when you reach the top. Also, some people are less inclined to pick up after their dogs poop halfway up the hill.

Great local skiing. Fun time with the family. Close to Boston so it's a fun family activity to do together.
