Sadly, it is more and more difficult these days to find groomed cross-country ski trails. I guess if you're not in Scandinavia or Minnesota, it's not a hugely popular activity. Which is really too bad, because it's such a great way to be outdoors in the winter and fantastic exercise.

Anyway, if you are someone who does cross-country ski, I can't think of a more lovely place to do it than Canterbury Frams. This was my first time here and it was gorgeous. It didn't hurt that there had been great snowfall. The trails wind through beautiful forests, ranging from flat wide trails near the lodge to more challenging, narrower and really lovely and peaceful trails as you climb toward the marsh. Assuming it's been cold enough, as it was when I was there, you can ski around the marsh, too, for a change of scenery.

The owners did a great job keeping the trails groomed.

So once Dave helped me get my car out of a snowbank when I accidentally came into the wrong area instead of the main parking lot, it was all fantastic. I wish I would have skied there a couple of more days during the week of my visit. I will certainly be back on my next trip, if the weather cooperates.

Beautiful place for cross-country skiing! During this pandemic, the owners are doing an excellent job controlling for the # visitors throughout the day, and reminding guests to stay distant when trying on shoes and skis.

For first-timers or anyone who needs to brush up, Holly Brouker (M Power Adventures, contact details on Canterbury Farm website) offers lessons. I took it on my first time here, and then came back with a group of friends who took a group lesson with Holly. Highly recommend, as Holly teaches all the basics and techniques to make sure you know what you're doing when you hit the trails. Otherwise, you'll spend the day quite frustrated!

The trails here are so lovely. Winter is a magical time here.

Saw some people doing snowshoeing. There are specific trails for snowshoes, and they looked fun, too!

What a fantastic experience! We planned a little getaway and I really wanted to be outdoors. The innkeepers at Devonfield Inn recommended Canterbury Farms and I’m so glad they did. Fresh snow had just fallen making it idyllic. Trails were well marked. So pretty I couldn’t stop taking pictures! One of the owners, Dave gave us some good tips since we hadn’t snowshoed before. Kurt helped us with the rental equipment, he was kind and friendly. We can’t wait to go back.

Dave is excellent at customer service!!!! When my teen son didn’t bring the warmest clothes for cross country skiing Dave literally gave us the shirt off his back and a pair of warm pants and a belt!!! The trails were great, the scenery beautiful!! I would highly recommend a trip to Becket to Canterbury farms!! Cathy was helpful and Dave’s customer service was excellent!

Excellent cross country skiing. The trails were rated by difficulty and very well groomed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely go there again when in the area.

This is an awesome place to ski. Out of 3 places we tried in the area, this was the best. There are well-marked trails for all levels. On one of the best weather days of the winter, Canterbury Farm was not crowded at all. A day pass costs $15.00. There is an ice skating rink and snowshoeing too. The small café is open to day and overnight visitors. It offers a small menu and beverages. You might also get a visit from the resident cat, Buddy. Canterbury Farm is a must-ski location if you're in the area.

We had a great day at Canterbury Farms. We started our visit with rentals and a lesson - it was our first time on skis and the instructor was really helpful and positive! After the lesson, we were able to spend the rest of the afternoon out on the beautiful trails. The trails were in great shape and meander through beautiful evergreen woods, ponds, etc. We mostly stuck to flatter trails, but there are more challenging, hilly trails too. We'd love to return after more practice and try those! Definitely recommend visiting the cafe after you ski too! Canterbury Farms feels like your quintessential b&b: cozy, charming, and scenic with a friendly and welcoming staff! Can't recommend it enough!

Went cross country skiing there today as according to their web site posting indicated they had the most snow in the area. I got there and was presently surprised as it was very skiable; we have had minimal snow lately. Located in the Bershires and is very scenic, nice trails, and hospitable hosts. They also have a cafe where you can get sometime to eat and drink. In addition, they are easy to get to, as they are not that far from the Mass. Pike, exit 2.
