For quite some time I've wanted to go ziplining and do a rock climb wall. The trainings involved with going to Earth Treks have never fit my schedule and when I saw that TA had a package deal with both activities, I was all in. My husband and I booked the 10am Adventure park experience, and we're glad we did because it happened to be a hot day. Our guides for the high rope course and ziplining were great. Both very friendly, helpful and professional. There were some families with younger children in our group and the guides were just as helpful with them. The giant swing was sort of an added fun bonus for me. I consider myself somewhat athletic, I lift, run, spin etc., but my arms were just gassed at the end of level 2 of the ropes. The rope ladder did me in. I wished the rock wall would have been more towards the beginning because I really had nothing left in my arms after the high ropes. The ziplining was fun, but if you've done it before it wouldn't be very exciting as you are low to the ground. We look forward to going back sometime and possibly doing one of the outside the park trips.

I went on a caving trip led by 2 Terrapin Adventure guides in West Virginia. Our guides were informative, helpful, and helped make the experience great. They knew the cave well and were great at talking us through tricky steps. I highly recommend Terrapin for off-site adventures!

Instead of fighting the crowds this Memorial Day weekend in DC or the Inner Harbor we visited Terrapin Adventures in Savage MD and a fun time was had by the entire family. Mom and Dad as well as our 13 and ten year olds enjoyed the zipline adventure as well as the large "swing".
Having done ziplining in the past the zip line was fun but certainly more entry level than those we have done in the Smoky Mountains. The swing was a tremendous attraction which stirred up my stomach with its tantalizing slow climb to the top and g force plummet to the bottom. I may not get the guts to do that ne again.
Very informative and friendly staff made the adventure even more pleasurable. The place is a bit hard to find and please note the office is actually in the Savage Mill complex.
We look forward to partaking in more of their activites on a next visit.

My son attended their adventure camp this past summer and to be fair, his reviews were mixed. Some activities were fun but for the most part the camp was not nearly quite as advertised. What followed is considerably more concerning. We have just returned from a family vacation and followed instructions to pick up my son's epi-pen which was left at the camp. To this point they have been threatening to throw it away if we did not pick it up. For those not in the know, Epi-pens are live saving medicine that cost $100's of dollars per dose. Per instructions my wife was on site at 8:30 in the morning and the staff member specifically stated "I don't get paid enough to help you" and rudely kicked her out of the store. She drove 1 hour through rush hour traffic to get there at a time specified by the camp director. Their actions are inappropriate & inexcusable. We have been customers of their in the past, but we will never recommend this business or experience to anyone ever again.

I spoke to your wife this morning and appreciated her direct conversation and feedback. I am glad you were able to get your son's Epi pen back when you returned from vacation. We will use your feedback to improve how we communicate with parents. We did not threaten to throw the Epi pen away but under state regulations, must dispose of it at the end of camp if not retrieved by parent. I am glad your son enjoyed camp. Unfortunately, they group did not get to do slack lining and the slip n slide activity due to thunderstorms but were able to do all the other activities listed on the itinerary

Visited here with our 14 yo grandson who has previously visited other high ropes adventure courses in MA & TN. He enjoyed Terrapin but felt it was easier than the other parks he has climbed & the time spent on the ropes was dramatically less. Grandson finished the course- High Alpine Adventure- in 30 min, much quicker than the 2 hrs indicated on the website. As with other courses, Terrapin is all about “Safety first”. He was assigned a guide who stayed with him for the entire climb, clipping & unclipping him from various elements. As observers, Mr. Pilgrim & I were able to watch from a small viewing area but the structure & trees blocked much of our view. We were there on a Wed at 10 am so Grandson was the only individual climber. There were several groups, though, for what appeared to be team building activities separate from climbing. Given the information on the website & our previous experience with other ropes courses, Mr & I were very disappointed - especially since this park was more expensive than the others. Nonetheless Grandson enjoyed himself & that was our goal.

Thanks for your feedback. For a longer more adventurous experience we suggest the Terrapin Challenge. The amount of time is average and is based on having other guests on the course so your grandson was fortunate to have a one on one guide. Observers do have the option to sign a consent/waiver form and wear a helmet for a closer view of participating guests.

And not in a good way...
The place was difficult to find - we happened to have seen the sign on the highway and decided to check it out after looking it up on the phone
Once we got to the Mill we couldn't find the office, once we found it and I walked up to the desk, the young gentleman working behind the desk was on the phone, and shoved a piece of paper in my face with the information on it. I looked over it and waited patiently for him to get off of the phone.
Once he was off the phone, we was slightly short with me, and basically didn't let me ask my questions to tell me that the zip line was not open due to the fact that they had 100 kids out there.
I was just upset at his shortness with me and opted to not ask about other options.

We went as a family outing with our 3 children (ages 8,8, and 11). The website said that their minimum age is 8 and when I called to find out about it I was told that the high ropes course is the most fun for kids. The first level of the ropes course was appropriate but as the course got higher, the challenges got more advanced and required a lot of strength and stamina. The guides were very helpful with the kids but none of us made it all the way through the course. Although I won't say it was a total waste of money, it was definitely expensive ($50/person) for the fact that we didn't make it all the way through and we'd paid for something that we were told was appropriate for our family.
However, if you are in good physical shape and are an adult, this place would be perfect for you!
Also, their website reports that they don't allow you to take cameras but they will be taking pictures during your adventure - this was not true while we were there.

I decided to bring the kids to terrapin adventures to expose them to something different and to give them some adventure during spring break. I had a six year old and three 10 year old boys. I decided to get the Youth Explorer obstacle course for the six year old and the Triple Thrill for the older kids. The obstacle course includes a zip line, rock wall and ropes. The Triple Thrill includes a 330 ft zip line, 40ft bungee drop and a giant swing. Prior to going on any course, you have to get instructions on the equipment (helmets, belts and harnesses). They check to assure that everyone put their equipment on correctly. We went out with the teams that were getting the same packages as us. Each group has a a guide or guides. I scheduled the experiences so that the six year old would go first and then the older kids. The six year old enjoyed the rock wall, but required assistance throughout the obstacle course. It does seem a little high up when you climb up. I would say it all depends on the child. The older kids got on the giant swing first. It was perfect because three people could go on the swing at one time. All three kids went on the swing together and one person is responsible for pulling the latch to let the swing go. My son said that part was scary because he had to let go of the swing. The swing goes well into the wooded area but the kids said it was so much fun. The second adventure was the zip line. All three boys were nervous. My son is a dare angel but he didn’t like the small metal spokes that you have to climb to get up to the zip line. He said they made him feel off balance or like he was going to fall. He said that they need to make a sturdy ladder. Nonetheless after some convincing all three boys did the zip line and they were glad they tried it. The final adventure was the 40 ft drop. There was no one in our group willing to go first except for my son. In order to get to the top, you have to climb up a wooden post again with the small metal spokes. Although my son gave it his all he again said that they should have a ladder or something similar to make it easier to get to the top. He came back down without making it to the top. I did not plan on doing any of the adventures, but I put on all of the equipment just in case I had to step in. Well, I had to step in. The next thing I knew I was climbing up the post and made it to the top of the platform trying to figure out what I was doing up there. Extremely scared the guide was at the top with me and told me it was ok to sit down and scoot off the platform. I did just that and expected it to bungee, but it was an airy drop that placed me down to the ground softly. Needless to say we all got a little adventure that day. Awesome place for adventure, bucket list or adrenaline rush!

Excellent staff and courses, very safe, but designed to push you and overcome some of your fears. We booked the Terrapin Challenge that covers 5 different challenges offered by Terrapin Adventures. The Giant Swing and zip line were easy and enjoyable. The Terrapin Flyer is somewhat scary, since you need to climb up and make yourself take a step to jump off of 40ft platform. Realistically, it's very safe and nothing to worry about. The rope catches you as soon as you jump and eases you down. I would probably do it the second time without any anxiety. The Climbing Tower and Rope course have difficult elements, if you chose to challenge yourself.
Overall we had an excellent time and really enjoyed each part.

My 10 and 12 year olds had a blast. They did the swing, the flyer and the zip-line. My 5 year old was unable to participate due to a damage on the adventure course from a fallen tree—we were so disappointed to hear that news when we arrived, but he had fun watching the big kids doing what he called “death defying stunts”. We did see the adventure course and it looked amazing. Definitely going back! Staff is really good with kids and dealt with my daughter’s fear of heights nicely. Highly recommend.

Hi, My grandsons (age 13 and 11) gave me a $150 coupon / gift certicate. I am a retired Army airborne ranger. What do you recommend for me and my grandsons? What will be the cost?
Written September 7, 2019
My grandson (14) did “The Adrenaline Rush” ($57) so I can only speak to that. He (and we) were disappointed that this adventure was not more challenging for him. He has done an adventure course in both Mass. & Tenn & is quite the climber. I suggest going to the website for Terrapin Adventures in Savage MD & looking at the other adventures that are offered. Some of them include a climbing wall. I’m sure you will find something suitable & fun.
