Great both times! thank you!It was our second time there, this time for a birthday party. the kids loved it. 8-11yo's. beautiful day and really great and friendly staff. - TheByrds1996Bethesda, Maryland52 contributionsDay or nighttime fun for the whole adventurous family. This adventure park is amazing! The website is easy to navigate and they offer different options such as Glow in the Dark and Keep it Lit and they cater to kids of all ages. The staff is amazing and they prepare you for the adventure level that is challenging but successful for you. Adventure courses vary in level from green to double black diamond and they also offer axe throwing. There’s a fantastic bonfire to enjoy before or after. The equipment is top notch and it’s obvious everyone who works there loves what they do. I can’t wait to go back!Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 23, 2023
- DKMommyqElkton, Maryland289 contributionsAx throwing funWe did the ax throwing. I would recommend two hours so you have time to practice and get the hang of it. The board had computerized games you can play. The board is cork, so only straight on hits stick. It was more fun than I expected. There are picnic tables and you can bring in food. We ordered from the food truck, which was pretty slow for a not crowded day. Restrooms are porta potties. The parking lot is gravel.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 31, 2023
- mary ann t1 contributionExcellent funGreat fun for all ages (I brought my grandkids ages 9, 14, and 16). The staff were friendly and helpful, and the park is beautiful. The courses were both fun and challenging and the safety system was impressive. We will definitely go again.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 1, 2024
- Kara RWashington DC, District of Columbia31 contributionsLoved our adventure!!I have the only ever done one other ropes course and let me tell you that The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring is the hands down, absolute BEST experience!!! The entire experience was incredible and we will definitely go again, and again, and again! I love the fact that kids can participate and that it's so family friendly. The other ropes course I attended was only for participants over 100 lbs and the safety equipment was very hard to use and maneuver with. The Adventure Park is open to kids ages 5 and up, and my two kids were able to do 99% of the obstacles we tried. The employees were knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. The course was huge, so much fun, and challenging. 10/10, 5/5 stars, A+, you get the idea. Yes it is expensive at first glance, but that's for a top-of-the-line experience that includes 3 hours of just climbing time. I highly recommend you go, and take your friends too!Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 13, 2024
- WHB75Minneapolis, Minnesota37 contributionsGreat Adventures at Sandy Spring Adventure ParkWe brought our 3 grandchildren here ages 12,11,10 girls and boys and they loved all 3 hours of climbing, zip lining , balancing. The preparation and safety checks made me secure, the age controls very strict and straightforward, the gear check thorough. We had one 6 year old who went to a park within 10 minutes of Adventure Park while his siblings climbed. They also have the rope routes somewhat concentric with easy access walking paths underneath so you can track the kids relatively easily but not invasively. The staff was professional, helpful, friendly and the director delivers a very direct , well understood personal responsibility words should you age up for tougher courses..Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 16, 2024
- Toby C1 contributionIf you're looking for a fun and challenging ropes course experience, you must visit this place! The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring is THE BEST ropes course in the area. We drove 2.5 hours one way, and it was well worth the trip. There are TONS of courses to choose from at every difficulty level. Even the strongest climber will be challenged. All of the staff are incredibly helpful, kind, and encouraging. There is plenty of drinking water available, a water misting/cooling station, and shaded places to eat. You can bring your own food or buy food there. I have never been in cleaner porta potty, and there is cold running water to wash your hands. This is a great outdoor activity for adults and children, families, and friends.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 30, 2024
- CabinJohnersCabin John, Maryland182 contributionskids have a blast on the coursesThis was our third year of taking grandkids, girl now age 14 & boy 15, to Adventure Park because they enjoy it so much they insist on returning to continue trying more advanced courses, when they come for their annual summer "Nana Camp" week-long visit to the DC metro area. The park safety and staff enforcement of the rules is reassuring so I don't worry about them doing the courses on their own. They have a blast on the challenging ropes and zip lines. There is free water at stations on the ground so they can stay hydrated. We bring a snack or lunch along and eat at the shaded tables. It's a great outing!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 17, 2024

Took my kids back to Adventure Park at Sandy Spring now that they are re-opened as this area deals with COVID-19. Their protocols seem excellent, and we felt comfortable with our strict social distancing. There were very few other people allowed during our reservation times, they gave us new disposable climbing gloves, mini bottles of sanitizer and mini water bottles.
After months at home it felt strange to be out and about... It was wonderful and a great option for people looking for summer 2020 activities.
(Note that they only have portapotties. These were clean and they set up no-touch sinks outside to wash hands, but I recommend going at home!)

This was me and my guest first time zip-lining!
I was visiting from NY and I made a human error of booking for the wrong location. After explaining to staff not only did they understand completely. But they made the rest of my journey seamless and left me with no worries as they were able to accommodate me and my guest quickly and efficiently. Really took a weight off of my shoulders and we had a fabulous time throughout our experience! The most exciting thing about The Adventure Park at Sandy Springs, was that it’s more of a mental challenge than physical. To coach yourself and others through the obstacles is definitely a different battle of believing in yourself some may never thought they’ll come to.
Thank you for the experience.

This place is awesome! We go about once a year and it is always a thrill! Climbs are fun, staff is friendly and helpful. Took a little longer this time to go through the training session, but totally understandable with all of the covid precautions implemented. And I love that they offer a cheap glove purchase option ($2) so you don’t have to spend over $10 on leather gloves! They have the best cancellation policy, so there’s never any risk in making reservations! Love this place!

I took my son and a friend (9yo) to the Park and they had a great time. They were able to navigate different levels of courses independently, so I was able to follow along on the ground w/o climbing myself. The instructors also allowed them to graduate to the next difficulty levels when they'd demonstrated their ability on easier courses.
The food truck also made feeding the kids easy during a break.
We'll definitely be back.

Adventure Park is a tremendously fun and exhilarating activity. All staff members are patient, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and just cool and good people.
It was an awesome experience to be up in the trees, fully secured in our harnesses that made us feel and kept us safe. The engineering and detail in every element on every course is top notch. I was very impressed with how meticulously constructed every element is.
We will definitely be back here again. What a fun activity for the entire family--regardless of age.

Wow!!! First off the staff is amazing. Everyone we talked to was so sweet. From the gift shop, check in to the staff showing us the video and putting on our harness to the support staff. They were all beyond sweet and made us feel safe and welcomed. The tree top adventure was awesome!! We felt safe the entire time and can't wait to go again. Even my 10 year old was off and outpacing us in the trees. She was able to do everything she wanted and was so excited and felt powerful.

We have been to Adventure Park many times and are so glad they have been able to re-open and adjust to the new restrictions. Now they give you new gloves and hand sanitizer upon check-in. Everyone wears masks unless climbing. Staff was also polite and consistent about asking people to wear their masks. With the limited number of climbers, it's easy to stay apart from others, whether in the trees or on the ground. A fun, safe activity! Well done, Adventure Park!

We're definitely lucky the park naturally lends itself to social distancing with some supplements! I'm glad to hear that you felt safe and still had a fun time. Hopefully we'll see you back at the Park in the future! Thank you for your review!

I took my seven year-old there for “Superhero training” and she loved it. The staff was very helpful and extremely responsive; they answered any questions and assisted as needed.
The safety training was very straight forward. The video is the same video posted on the website so it is was to watch it at least once before you show up. One note for the zip lines, the staff should provide instruction for smaller kids on how to stop if they slide back from the dismount area. My child slid backwards (due to gravity) from the dismount area twice and was not able to get off the line because the instructions were to keep hands on the trolley. The simple fix was to have her place a hand on the cable once at the dismount area to prevent her from sliding backwards, and then use a hand over hand technique to pull up to the dismount area in order to stand up and unclip.
The harnesses were easy to adjust and fairly comfortable. The safety features were easy to use, ensure that you stay safely connected to the cables on the courses throughout the park and prevented any falls.
The courses are rated by skill level, are fairly long and take some time to complete, so plan ahead. They were, however, all fun.
They have a food truck, small lockers, and restrooms on site. The restrooms were port-a-potties, but they did have running water and soap to wash hands. They do have covered areas and picnic benches where you can sit and eat. The parking area is crushed rock and grass.
We had a great time and will be back for more ADVENTURE!
Thank you.

Such a great place for kids and adults alike! Challenging but doable. But the best part, was the customer service! We threw our 8-year a birthday party there on Saturday. I didn't book a group reservation because there were only going to be about 8 kids. The staff was attentive and helpful. After the tutorial video, of course we all still had difficulty getting the harnesses on but the staff was there to help with a smile on their faces. One of our party goers had a bit of a panic attack on the course and staff had to do a rescue. They were professional and encouraging and ultimately got him down. Great picnic areas where we set up. Cherry on top - they gave my son a gift wrapped present for his birthday. Mind you, I had not made a group reservation but somehow they figured out we were celebrating his birthday and made him feel special with an amazing water bottle. We'll definitely be back! Pricey but worth it for the amount of time you're on the course (over 3 hours!) COVID safe! Water stations throughout.

We loved the adventure Park, and can't wait to return. Everything went very well, and we had loads of fun, including our 7 year old who I wasn't sure would enjoy the experience. Highly recommended.
A couple of things could have been better for us... I wish they had some sort of height requirements mentioned on the courses. Our son went on the green course, and we realized halfway that the harness would have to be put too high for him to be able to complete the activity. So we had to go back to the next exit and kind of leave things midway!
We called the staff a couple of times for help, they were very helpful, and handled the situations very well, completely satisfied with that. But the part where you need to call them was hard, you just need to yell 'staff' and it took my whole family, and people on the neighboring trees to be able to get their attention!

Hello!
I am planning to bring a big group (16-20 adults) to the adventure park on a Saturday in November at 3pm, but I'm nervous about how busy it might be.
Any tips about going with a group would be super helpful! I really appreciate it!
Thank you!!

How does the park avoid long wait times at each obstacle?
Hello ~ sent this email directly to the Park Manager and have not received an acknowledgement and/or response. While we returned during the day and payed more, we'd like to try the Twilight Adventure but are hesitant based on our last experience, Any insight on whether or not the park has a process in place to ensure no "back-ups"/long waits at each obstacle? We certainly did not get our money's worth of zip lining on this evening:
This past Saturday night, we surprised my son and took him and a couple of his friends (ages 13, 14 and 15) so they could experience the park in the evening. The weather was absolutely perfect and they couldn't wait to get started!
After training, off they went ... huge smiles on their faces and high-fiving all the way to the start of the courses. As parents, we thought we'd earned some brownie points and high-fived as well!
When we came back at 10pm for pick-up, to our shock and surprise, all 3 of them were sitting on a bench looking pretty despondent and the mood was somber (the complete opposite of when we left). I asked how things went and they said it was a huge disappointment. They didn't get to zipline much during the 2 hours they were there and clearly, they were upset. We were all hoping that this would be a night for them to remember and felt awful for the boys. We rode home in silence, and in an attempt to salvage the evening, I promised we'd go again and perhaps even try another park in the area. That perked them up a little.
Apparently, it was great at first, especially when they felt like they had the park to themselves after 3-4 obstacles. Then all of a sudden, they caught up with a group of 3 20-something year old girls. This is when things went awry.
These girls took an inordinate amount of time getting from one obstacle to the next. They'd start out by taking numerous selfies and then waited for each girl to get to the other side before moving onto the next platform. They used this "process" (selfies first, then waiting for each other on the other side of the ziplines before starting the next) the entire way through the obstacle. By the time the boys finished this 1 single obstacle (well over an hour!) all the others in the park (the ones they really wanted to hit) were shut down. The only ones left were the easy ones (purple and yellow).
I asked if there was an employee in the park who either went with them as a guide or was simply walking around and monitoring the pace at which people moved through the obstacles, thinking that this could have helped to move these girls along. The boys said no and there was absolutely nothing they could do to address the situation. They basically felt "trapped" and just followed behind these girls.
I thought that by sharing this experience with you (vs. complain about it on social media), you'd have a chance to address what could possibly be an ongoing problem that others have encountered. It surprised me that there aren't staff members walking around through the park (or even "stationed" at platforms), ensuring that the traffic is flowing and people are moving at a good pace through the obstacles.
While the whole concept of ziplining in the evening was super exciting, we may just opt to go during the day. I'm hoping they'll want to give SS Adventure Park another try!
Thanks for the opportunity to share this feedback.

Did the boys ask the girls if they could go ahead of them? I've found that there can be folks who are moving more slowly for many reasons (other than selfies) such as nervousness or inexperience - there seems to be a norm of politely asking folks if quicker folks can move ahead - and I've never seen anyone refuse anyone else. I know that might feel difficult for the boys to do....
