We had Captain Tim Dunlap as our skipper and Mike Horne as our First Mate for the July 26 Sunset Champagne Cruise, and we had a great time with them and the two other couples aboard. The day had been warm and humid, so we were looking forward to cooler temperatures and a good breeze, but the lack thereof was the only disappointment of the evening. We started the cruise with a comprehensive tour of the small harbor at St Michael’s, the Skipper taking us the full length of the main channel then turning north to parallel the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum campus and turning back south to the main channel. Captain Tim then took us out to the middle of the Miles River in search of some wind, for which the single sail of this large catboat was hoisted. This can be a passenger participation moment if desired—I’m sure First Mate Mike would appreciate the help.

Sadly we did not get much of a wind for this cruise, so we did not see much of Selina’s handling under full sail. So Selina’s auxiliary diesel came in handy to give some breeze and some sights as Captain Tim took us into Leeds Creek for a distance. All of us were spinning various yarns as the cruise progressed, especially after First Mate Mike spread good cheer with some snacks, beer, wine, and bubbly. All too soon it was time to head back into St. Michael’s as the sun began touching the western horizon.

We had a great time aboard the Selina—it was a great opportunity to sail a fairly unique craft that is very comfortable and well maintained. A great way to spend a St Michael’s evening!

We had a great time on board the Selina II with Captain Matt and First Rate Mate, Cannon. Originally we were scheduled on Friday but the weather wasn't playing nice so Captain Matt called ahead if time and gave us the option to rebook the very next day and it worked out beautifully. There was only one other couple on board with us and everyone had masks and they supplied hand sanitizer. We felt very safe and comfortable, even during these COVID times. My husband and I also opted to do the wine tasting on board and were able to try 6 different wines and then a full glass of wine was offered after that (check out the deal on Groupon)! I would highly recommend this 2 hour experience with this awesome crew and gorgeous vessel!

The captian and first mate made tonight's moonlight trip wonderfull. The other couples were really nice as we were able to beat the heat, unfurl the sails, and enjoy a nearly full moon right after a cloudless sunset. The seating was EXTREEMELY comfortable and the wide beam of the boat is very spacious. Even saw a single dolphin and some fireworks in the distance. Definately a must, especially after the searing heat of the day!

We had a special anniversary weekend planned in St. Michaels this past weekend and we started it off with the 7:30pm sunset cruise on Friday night. It was a lovely trip even though a storm was fast approaching and our trip was cut short by an hour. The crew handled the boat beautifully and we felt very safe. The scenery was amazing and the hospitality top notch. The crew handled the COVID social distancing etc. very well. Thank you!

We had a great sailing experience with the crew of the Selina II. We trolled part of the coastline before raising up the sail and got some history about the beautiful establishments/homes we past. And then, just as their ad states, we got to help in raising the sails! It was harder than we expected!
The boat is beautiful, and the crew is very engaged in making your sailing experience a good one. Matt was also very attentive to getting us the correct charges when billing had to be updated. Great sailing crew working for a good owner. I highly recommend this sailing experience.

My family and I had booked the 5:30pm champagne sail on Selina II with Captain Iris and had a wonderful time. The Selina II is a beautiful sailboat, impeccably maintained! The evening weather was beautiful as we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Chesapeake Bay. An added plus was the Wednesday evening sailboat races that were occurring. Captain Iris and her first mate made this experience worthwhile! I would highly recommend this beautiful experience!

This was a fabulous experience, the weather was cooler than expected, despite that, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The crew were awesome, so friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the sights. We felt as if we had made new friends by the end of the trip. The boat is lovely, beautifully maintained, she took us on a great cruise. Although it the winds were too strong to safely put the sails up, it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the trip at all. I would highly recommend the Salinas and her crew to anyone who wants to spend some time on the water, with people who obviously love what they do and are happy to share that joy with you.

As soon as Captain Iris cut the engines and raised the sails, I felt relaxed and calm. We shared the cruise with three other passengers who were charming and easy to chat with; however, Iris kept the conversations lively and informative, answering all our questions. Well worth the price.

I wish I had put more time into researching this attraction. I probably would have put my money elsewhere. Don't get me wrong....the boat is lovely and if you happen to sail with other nice people (which we did), it is a pleasant way to spend two hours.

What I wish I'd reviewed more closely was the tipping policy. A 20% tip on a $75 ticket is pricey enough, but then to find they add the tip and THEN put on taxes and fees (which I believe is illegal to do). Furthermore, the website offers a wine or beer tasting touting 6 beers or 6 different wines for an additional $20. While my husband and I did not partake in that, one of the other couples did and for their $40, received exactly 1 1/2 cans of beer between the two of them. I don't know about them, but that would have had me a bit taken advantage of.

The first mate and another helper were really only working on polishing all of the brass on the boat for a photo shoot that the captain was supposed to have that evening. The captain kept answering her phone because her "receptionist wasn't working today" which took her away from the paying guests.

There wasn't a lot of sailing. Mostly they used the motor. I have definitely been on better sails. Fortunately, we had a beautiful day weather-wise.

The other thing I noticed after going and looking at the Salina II website is that the captain only posts the 5 star reviews. It seems that Trip Advisor would have been a better place to look first.

So sorry you were uncomfortable with our pricing structure. You are right there is a base rate, taxes, tip, and if you book online an online booking fee. All perfectly legal. All of that is clearly itemized at checkout so any guest who is uncomfortable with the pricing can choose not to book before paying. As for the guests who opted for the beer tasting, they didn’t want the full flight although it was offered repeatedly. You are right, it was most unfortunate that I had to ask my mate to take the helm while I took the phone down below. Perhaps in the future the answering machine would be a better choice. So glad you enjoyed the sail. We typically take about 10 minutes to get out of the harbor, then put up sails, and follow the wind. About 10 minutes before heading back into the harbor we take the sail down and motor back to the dock. And yes we are proud of our five star reviews. I am truly sorry we didn’t earn one from you. ~Capt Iris

The moonlight cruise we went on yesterday was an excellent way to see the sunset. Charlie and Captain Matt made my family of 5 feel at ease during our calm evening sail. Booking was extremely easy; when I called, Bonnie was super helpful in answering my questions and finding the perfect time for my family to sail. The 2 hour sail was comfortable on the boat and since it is at 7:30-9:30pm, the temperature was comfortable.
