About
Covid: Yes we are open! Sail Selina II Boat Tours sails daily from St Michaels MD April-Oct. limited to just 6 guests for a personal experience of the history of sail. Built in 1926 during the Great Gatsby era, climb aboard go back in time when yachtsmen enjoyed the elegance of freshly varnished mahogany and brightly polished brass. Available on a per person basis or private charter, we offer day sails, Champagne Sunset Cruises, moonlight sails, sailing lessons, wine tasting and beer tasting excursions, small weddings, engagements, birthdays & anniversary celebrations. Once we cast off lines we tour the harbor and enjoy the sights that dot the shoreline of our quaint little seafood town. Hear the stories of the historic boats on display at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museums, and see where the movie "Wedding Crashers" was filmed. Once we leave the harbor we go out into the Miles River, put up the sails and follow the wind. Guests are invited to participate or simply sit back relax.

We had Captain Tim Dunlap as our skipper and Mike Horne as our First Mate for the July 26 Sunset Champagne Cruise, and we had a great time with them and the two other couples aboard. The day had been warm and humid, so we were looking forward to cooler temperatures and a good breeze, but the lack thereof was the only disappointment of the evening. We started the cruise with a comprehensive tour of the small harbor at St Michael’s, the Skipper taking us the full length of the main channel then turning north to parallel the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum campus and turning back south to the main channel. Captain Tim then took us out to the middle of the Miles River in search of some wind, for which the single sail of this large catboat was hoisted. This can be a passenger participation moment if desired—I’m sure First Mate Mike would appreciate the help.

Sadly we did not get much of a wind for this cruise, so we did not see much of Selina’s handling under full sail. So Selina’s auxiliary diesel came in handy to give some breeze and some sights as Captain Tim took us into Leeds Creek for a distance. All of us were spinning various yarns as the cruise progressed, especially after First Mate Mike spread good cheer with some snacks, beer, wine, and bubbly. All too soon it was time to head back into St. Michael’s as the sun began touching the western horizon.

We had a great time aboard the Selina—it was a great opportunity to sail a fairly unique craft that is very comfortable and well maintained. A great way to spend a St Michael’s evening!

My family and I had booked the 5:30pm champagne sail on Selina II with Captain Iris and had a wonderful time. The Selina II is a beautiful sailboat, impeccably maintained! The evening weather was beautiful as we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Chesapeake Bay. An added plus was the Wednesday evening sailboat races that were occurring. Captain Iris and her first mate made this experience worthwhile! I would highly recommend this beautiful experience!

As soon as Captain Iris cut the engines and raised the sails, I felt relaxed and calm. We shared the cruise with three other passengers who were charming and easy to chat with; however, Iris kept the conversations lively and informative, answering all our questions. Well worth the price.

A gorgeous, beautifully maintained sailboat, the Selina I I has been the height of our umpteenth visit to the Eastern Shore. Captain Iris and First Mate Colin were gracious, professional, and just great fun. Captain Iris’s stories about local personalities, history, and festivals were alternately fascinating and hilarious, just the right counterpoint to a sail on the Chesapeake on a lovely day. Highly recommended!

We've sailed on the Selina II numerous times, and it never fails to be magical. We had booked 2 times this summer, but the weather didn't cooperate. Third times the charm! We took the Sunset champagne cruise with Captain Tim and 1st Mate Reese. They couldn't have been more accommodating -- I have bum knees and they made sure I got on and off safely. We had champagne, snacks and great stories. Captain Tim gave it a Halloween spin by telling us the tale of a notorious St. Michael's murder It was a bit chilly and windy, but blankets were offered if you needed them. Despite some areas of choppy water, Selina was as stable as every. Beautiful boat, beautiful people and lovely views of St. Michaels. I'll be there when the sail again next year!

We had a wonderful, information filled sail with Capt. Iris. The wooden sail boat Selina is a well cared for gem passed down through Iris' family. She recounts it's history as well as sharing information about the art of sailing, and the Delmar and Chesapeake Bay history. Well worth the price and fun for people of all ages.

Captain Iris and first mate Reese were excellent hosts on our two-hour morning sail. We (husband and I) were with his brother and wife and their two active sons, ages 3 and 6. The boat is very wide and therefore extremely stable - no heeling on our trip, which is great for little ones. Captain Iris was very patient with the boys, as was Reese, who answered about 100 questions re: what was below deck. Beautiful boat and very cool that it was built for Captain Iris' grandfather, so it's still in the family. Lovely experience - highly recommend!

Amazing!!! Best experience I’ve had in a long time. We started with a minor delay but the captain and team were very communicative and worked hard to get us out in time. Once in theater we had a beautiful morning sale. I even got to raise the sails! A bit of work but worth the experience on such a unique vessel. We are already planning to go back and take family and friends. Would recommend this sailing experience to anyone looking to get on the water while I’m St Michaels.

Hi Brian, thanks for the 5 star review of Sail Selina in St zmichaels! I will pass your compliments along to your Capt and First Mate. They make a dynamic team full of history, anecdotes, and general warm heartedness that is easy and relaxing to be around. We super enjoy sharing the stories of our 95 year old yacht Selina II, history of the area, and environmental and conservation concerns about the Chesapeake Bay with all our guests. Amd what a great bonus to participate raising sails!

We had a great sailing experience with the crew of the Selina II. We trolled part of the coastline before raising up the sail and got some history about the beautiful establishments/homes we past. And then, just as their ad states, we got to help in raising the sails! It was harder than we expected!
The boat is beautiful, and the crew is very engaged in making your sailing experience a good one. Matt was also very attentive to getting us the correct charges when billing had to be updated. Great sailing crew working for a good owner. I highly recommend this sailing experience.

She’s a 97-year old beauty. Our time on Selina II will always be memorable. Captain Iris & Colin were great hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about this family-owned boat over 5 generations. Even the dolphins who swan with us were captivated by Captain Iris! It was so fun to raise the sails with Colin. Thank you for allowing us to experience this Grande Dame. Cathy & Randy
