We wanted to explore all St. Michaels, MD had to offer and what better way to get a first-hand experience and a history lesson all at once so we purchased tickets for the Patriot Cruise. They are centrally located at the Marina near the Maritime museum and walking distance to restaurants. Unfortunately, the weather was uncooperative for cruising and we averted a storm with pouring rain and lightning and were forced to turn around only halfway through the tour. The good people on management credited us with a free return pass! Can't wait to try again this summer.

So glad we did the Patriot cruise. It was very scenic and informative. You feel more like you’re on open waters rather than a narrow river. We learned a lot about the local history and houses on the shore. Plus they have a full bar and crew members bring the beverages to you. Very enjoyable yet relaxing and a great value. Also, very well organized for Covid restrictions - felt very safe.

Perfect way to break up the day while visiting the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and if you purchase Patriot Cruise tickets you get a discount on museum admission. Check-in and boarding were easy and well managed for a larger crowd of passengers and the captain and crew are friendly and visible throughout the cruise.
We enjoyed the scenery, history and information and pleasant breeze.

I have to be honest after being on many boat tours I was a bit disappointed with this boat ride. Not be sure the company did a horrible job it just wasn’t what a younger person would have expected. The boat putt putts along all the time you get a narration of the area. Perfect for families with young children or older folks just wasn’t my cup of tea.
They were gracious enough to credit our account when we couldn’t make it the st Michaels in may due to illness.
Comfortable boat ride there are multiple places to sit either open air covered , uncovered or air conditioned and beverages are offered for a price.
Pleas3 don’t misunderstand me it was a great boat ride just not what I expected. Tickets were also inexpensive at $24 each.

Tell your disabled customers who have difficulty walking and standing for long periods of time that there is a boarding order. Give them a heads up how to avoid standing for long periods or walking distances for shade on 90+ degrees day. I am a heart patient who uses a cane to walk. I called in advance to ensure that they were aware of my situation. Not a word from Robin the ticket cashier about buying the tickets early so we could get an early boarding. I asked John the captain if I could get help ....just get out of the sun by standing at the back of the boat. He refused to assist....could have cared less. We werent even asking for special seating. By then my legs were weak. He told me that he would not do anything and announced to me, as well as the whole crowd waiting, as if take pleasure humiliating me, that he will make "no exceptions". We were shocked that he and his crew seemed so uncaring and completely dismissed my request for a little help. I guess that was done to keep us all in line. We requested a refund and limmediatly left. Can't say much for this tourist trap....

I am so sorry that you missed the true beauty of St. Michaels. We advertise that you board in the order of purchasing tickets and anytime we receive a phone call, we tell the customer that they should buy online as we board in the order they purchase tickets, especially if they have a handicap. We even offer a $2 discount for those who purchase early online in addition to getting on the boat first. We believe our boarding process is fair to all, handicapped and not. We would never want to be perceived as humiliating. In our core, this is not who we are. We also will not be bullied into disrespecting our other guests due to the actions of 1 person. I received multiple comments from other guests once onboard that I did the right thing and that they appreciated our process. We were happy to give you your money back and never want someone unhappy after cruising on The Patriot.

My husband and I we walking past the ticket booth and started chatting with the woman behind the counter and decided to spend the 27.95 per person to take the hour long guided tour. Well it was well worth the price the captain and guide we spectacular. They had munchies and drinks to enjoy. The guide gave was all points of interest along the way. The recording gave us a lot of interesting facts about the area. We even saw dolphins and the captain made sure we took our time to enjoy the sight. I would highly recommend to anyone coming to St Michaels Bay. What an unexpected fun time.

The Cruise was so relaxing. People around us were loud so it was difficult to hear the narration until the captain turned off the speaker and did his own narration for certain parts. the boat was so clean. The drinks and food were reasonable priced and the tickets were also reasonably priced. We paid for a combo (cruise-Marine Museum combo and did the museum the next day to extend our fun) . Seeing all the boats and Osprey was beautiful!

My wife and I booked our tickets for the cruise on the attractive 1930's replica steam ship named The Patriot, during our visit to St. Michael's as part of our two day stay in nearby Oxford. The one hour cruise is upon the beautiful Miles River, part of the Chesapeake Bay Estuary. The captain provided a running light hearted interesting commentary whilst we relaxed and enjoyed the views of the passing scenery, historic homes and wildlife. A most enjoyable experience. Recommended.

Informative and scenic tour of the Miles River. Learned some history and geography in a fun and relaxing outing. The narration on the trip out was lively, and on the return trip passengers just get to sit back and enjoy the scenery with companions. The tour has been fully adjusted for pandemic safety, with no crowding at any point.

We've been visiting St. Michaels and taking the narrated cruise on the Patriot for many years, but it had been a while since our last trip. We went on a gloriously beautiful day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The boat is always clean, they have beverages and snacks available for purchase and restrooms are available. There is narration during part of the trip that I believe has been updated since our last cruise and is informatively interesting.
The staff is very friendly and anxious for you to have a good time. During quiet time of the narration, Captain Matt would come out and give us some additional information. He's friendy, interesting and animated enough that he'd do well at Disney World. Another staff member whose name I failed to get came around to chat as we sailed and offered to take pictures of the passengers, which was really nice.
I highly recommend a sail on The Patriot - the Miles River is lovely and the homes along the waterfront are quite interesting to see. If you go, don't miss the gift shop at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (you don't have to go to the museum to go), which is near the waterfront - they have some great items for sale. We'll definitely return next year and look forward to another cruise!

At low to mid tide the Patriot is accessible for travel wheelchairs to access the main/lower air conditioned deck. You can hear the narration on all decks of the Patriot.

We are interested in the cruise for Sat Sep 10 and have a 35 lb dog - we read that you allow well behaved dogs - is that true and is there a fee for the dog?
Written September 8, 2016
Well behaved dogs are allowed on the Patriot as long as we have room and they are always free. They may need to hug the Captain at some point or maybe even help drive the boat😃 We look forward to seeing you this weekend. Capt. John
