Real reason to see the Maritime Museum again since 2014

This is one of the central attractions at the Maritime Museum. You really get a very good idea what life was like for a 19th century lighthouse keeper.

Travel up the stairs and back in time as you see the way the light house keeper lived and worked in this "screwpile" light house. Built originally to help boats navigate through the dangerous and narrow Hooper Strait, the light house was moved to Navy Point where it stands now. The interior has been restored and there are many artifacts... More

I love Lighthouse and there stories, each has a story. The tour is the way to go. The Fog alarm that needed to sounded every 10 seconds and the shift logbook were quite interesting

The title tells the truth of it. If they still stand or have been preserved in any way, as is the case with the Hooper Strait Light, I think a lighthouse is worth a nod. Driveways work for me, now. I've climbed enough to satisfy that "need." This one eliminates the climb, so children and oldsters may be able to... More

This is in the Maritime Museum. It gives you an interesting view of what a lonely life that must have been!

Part of the museum, so don't really think it should rated separate. But It's so nice inside!! Warning spiral staircase inside for those of you with vertigo. My favorite part was lifting the pictures on the wall, & reading about the lighthouse keepers.

We live in St.Michaels and are members of the Museum. When our four year old grand daughter visits us we always pay a visit to "her lighthouse" to make sure that everything is in good shape. She likes to make sure that the table is correctly set and the fish and potatoes (models for those who have not yet visited)... More

This is an attration at the museum. Requires walking up several flights of narrow, circular stairs, but well worth the effort.

This isn't really a tour, but rather a museum-style, self-guided tour of a screw-pile lighthouse that was originally mounted on iron screw pilings out in the water of the Bay. For this reason, lighthouse keepers had to travel by boat to it, and spend weeks at a time in the small, hexagon-shaped structure. The first version had its legs sheared... More
