Tilghman Island is a great destination to drive to and explore if you want to get away from the more touristy St. Michaels. We had an opportunity to take a drive here after our sail on Lady Patty and we found it peaceful and pastoral. Having stayed at a B and B on the island about 10 years ago, we... More

Cross the Knapps Narrow drawbridge from the mainland, and you are in a place apart. Tilghman Island, a large flat island in the Chesapeake invites exploration by car or bike. Your exploration can include birding, watching osprey, eagles and peregrine soar, driving or biking quiet streets and roads, exploring the excellent and diverse stock of its bookshop, eating great meals... After a great visit to St Michael's we drove over to Tilghman Island and we're so glad we did. We found a charming place to have some lunch and an beautiful Inn which we plan on staying at in the future.

We were at the Inn at Perry Cabin and decided to head over to Tilghman Island for some seafood at the recommendation of some people at the Inn. This little island is the home of many of the Bay's fisherman, It is rustic but beautiful in it's own way. You can see that it is populated by these folks as... More

Tilghman Island (becomes an island when you get to the Knapp's Narrows Bridge) is about 12 miles beyond St. Michael's, MD, on Rt. 33, then you should slow down, and begin to keep your eyes open for signs that will lead you to Inns, B&B's, quaint places to explore. You'll find boating, fishing, sailing, wonderful restaurants, fabulous vistas and water... More

Tilghman Island is still a working "watermen" Island with work boats, a Skipjack available for bay sailing, nice restaurants, an amazing bookstore (open only on the weekends in a old bank building) and abundant wildlife... It is also home to the busiest draw bridge in the Country with 40,000 openings each year... Visit, slow down, eat and enjoy...

Took a drive from St Michaels. Very pleasant bay coastline, with easy stop-offs. Beautiful views of bay. Not anything really to do, but enjoyable for sightseeing and relaxation.

We were curious to make the drive. It looks like a very quaint old town. We did not stop but would probably go back given more time.

We drove about 10 miles or so and turned right back around upon arriving. There is truly nothing to do there. If you just want to take a drive and look at the scenery, then go for it. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

The negative reviews say it well: there is nothing to do here on TI. But, nobody ever said there was something to do. I enjoyed the drive, the lunch at the marina, and the walk on the stone embankment at the southern tip of the island. The visit to the nature center right next to the draw bridge was interesting....
