A walk up and down the Potomac canal is beautiful, shaded and great for bird watching. The Canal Boat Ride is interesting historically, but not really worth it or necessary in my view. Watching others riding in the boat is better, and cheaper.

Takes you to colonial times and helps one understand how it was on the Canal and how the Canal locks worked. Great for children or history lovers.

Period attired guides give goo esplanation as if you were on a river boat in the late 19 century C& O canal used to be the primary way to ship stu to the west on mule drawn river boats.
