We visited Lac Jamaye this week. Like many other French country lakes this one is well maintained for visitors. A man made sand beach on the bank of the lake offers a safe supervised swimming area. Lifeguard station staffed all day. The beach is big...More

Lovely, safe man made beech with lifeguards. Kayaks etc can be hired. There is a restaurant serving reasonable food, together with a beech bar which also serves basic food (chips, ices etc). No shade at all on the beech, so get there early and find...More

We went out of season with just the small cafe open. Great spot with walks, water, cafe etc. Definitely worth a visit

Excellent swimming lake and sandy beach with cafe and parking. Also canoeing is available on most days free of charge. Lifeguards and roped off area gives more reassurance to a very family friendly environment.

What a fantastic place. Free entry, lovely sandy beach with roped off area for swimming and lifeguards on duty. We went on a Wednesday and Thursday. Must have been something local happening on the Wednesday as it was much busier, you could also take out...More

Went here for a day, lovely place but could do with more sun loungers. Gets very busy in hot weather but hey, that's the best time to go when you need to cool off! Great car parks and cafe - burgers are great! Great place...More

Staying in Vanxains and cycled down to see what was on offer, pleasantly surprised & returned the next afternoon. Kids spent all afternoon in the lake, registered with the kayaking and was told to return in 1/2 hour. Great fun in the kayaks. So nice...More

Lovely place to visit for a day with plenty to do or, if you prefer, do nothing but sit on the sandy beach. Free parking & activities including canoeing. Beach side cafes (2 of) a little basic & overpriced but otherwise, very good day out...More

15-20 minutes drive from Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne, the drive is easy and traffic free (unlike anywhere in U.K.) parking is free and plentiful (unlike anywhere in U.K.). There is a lovely clean sandy shore, the water is obviously non tidal, & no strong hidden currents. There are...More

We got there for about 10am on two different days and the guards were already at their posts, that was in July though, the hours are probably different now.

Hi. The lake is always open, I've walked around it in Feb. I don't know but I would guess that the cafes and canoeing will still be on offer. Hope you have fun, it's such a good place on a sunny day.
