A great place for observing the fall hawk migration.

This park is where the Patapsco River joins the Bay, and you can view freighters making their way into Baltimore Harbor, as well as recreational boats. Typically it is breezy there, and there are lovely waves. There is a small beach area at which now they allow swimming, though no lifeguard. There are many picnic tables, and a large playground.... Ft Smallwood has been around for years.. The walking paths are good and used by numerous folks daily..the park recentley added a boat launch and fishing pier.. The county did an outstanding job with both of these. The best time is during the week as it gets very busy on the weekends..

Beautiful Park with a view of Baltimore! Brand new boat launch and swimming beach. Fort Smallwood Park’s recreational amenities include a 380-foot fishing pier, children’s playground, historic gun battery and barracks, walking trails, beaches, pond and volleyball courts. Great place for birding! Wonderful history of the park- Fort Smallwood was a sea coast defense built in the late 1880's to... More

This park is in a beautiful location overlooking the water, unfortunately, is is under construction, There are barriers all over the place. I was there on a Thursday and nothing was happening so I don't know when it will be useful. If you just want to sit in you car and look at the water it is a fine place,... More

I have been going to Ft. Smallwood Park all my life. Since Anne Arundel County Parks took over a few years ago, the park has flourished. Everything has been updated to include the large fishing pier. All Anne Arundel County Parks are free to Veterans and Active Duty, just show you ID at the gate for a free pass.

We visited there for about seven years during a period of time with jobs. A very nice time we had there.

Fort Smallwood Park has come a LONG way since it's takeover by AA County. Families can enjoy walking trails, pavilions, pieces of the old gun battery located there, fishing, a new large playground, volleyball, beachfront (no swimming) and biking. The braod view lets you take in the Key Bridge and beyond. As of my last visit, only port-a-potties were available,... More

Most recently I took my grandchildren to Fort Smallwood Park on a fishing trip. I liked the park, but it is not a convenient place for people in wheelchairs, since there are only port-a-pots, and wheelchairs do not fit into them. This is a fine park for walkers, but not wheelchairs.
