Owned by one of the east coasts most experienced watermen, Brian Stoehr and his team are focusing their expertise on helping the next generation of wave riders, YOU. Our lessons offer a complete how-to in your choice or surfing, bodyboarding, skim, stand up boogie and even paddle surfing. Everything you want to know, and in the RIGHT order. These folks were great with my 10 and 13 year old boys. Dont worry about safety - they are totally on top of it with lots of extra bodies around. Will do it again next summer.
One side note: we opted to get photos on the side and although not expensive we did not get any photos we really loved. So maybe think about that and see how you feel.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE at the Wave Riding School. Do yourself a favor and book it. BOOK SEVERAL LESSONS. The owner was super chill and made sure we had the two best instructors...Ryan and Adam....Assuming old age doesn't say otherwise, we will be going to the Wave Riding School again after my son returns from deployment next year....and I'm thinking about booking lessons for the entire week we're in O.C. next time.

Friends, I waited 48 years to learn to surf and I can tell you that Brian and his team of instructors made me 100% convinced I picked exactly the right group of professionals to get me up and riding waves in no time at all! Don’t even think twice about booking a session with these guys. Ask for Graham, if you want an instructor that is going to customize your wave experience.

My 7yo son LOVED his first surf lesson! The instructors were great - knowledgeable, patient, safe, & organized. My son had a dedicated instructor (wish we had caught his name) who helped him through every step. He was even able to pop up on his first try! He had such a good time; we will definitely be back.

I am a beginner and have been surfing a few times prior to going for a lesson. Fantastic experience! I learned SO much from them, even with the knowledge I already had. Whether you want to learn more and how to catch more waves, or just want to check surfing off your bucket list, these guys are who you want to help.
Very friendly and quick! They even have a photographer who takes great photos!

My two daughters took Surf Lessons with Wave Riding School in OC, MD. They both had a blast and learned a lot. My 13 year old who is a good beginner surfer has taken lessons with different surf schools in NJ, DE, and MD this was her favorite experience! This was my 11 year olds first lesson experience and she felt safe and comfortable in the water. I was very impressed with the one on one attention for each student, plus there were also instructors that were stationed on the beach to collect boards and look out for the students safety and a photographer on the beach to capture the students in action was a added bonus! Brian is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He spent the time to match up his instructors to students by skill, size of board and need. Thanks Wave Riding School for sharing your fun and passion of surfing with us!

Everyone loved it. Our group had 10+ people ranging from 5 to 45 years old. Even the little guys (5, 9, 11) in our group were able to catch waves and ride them all the way to the beach! The staff was great. Highly recommend.

Surfing lesson for both my 50 something/year old self, and age 14 daughter. Each took a lesson with Eric and could't be more pleased with the experience. Professional, knowledgeable and encouraging.
Bucket list for me, potentially something that she may enjoy for years to come.
Ratio was one instructor to two students.
An 1 1/2 hr lesson that began at 5:30 PM was plenty good for me.
We may have had about 20 rides each in the surf.
My daughter may be hooked for life, as she really took well to the entire deal.
I would definitely do this again, and wish I had done it years ago.
Make sure someone is there to take pics and or videos.
Try to reserve at least 1 week in advance during peak summer season. We got lucky with a cancellation.
Very responsive in calling you back if you leave a phone or text message.

My daughter's (age 8) first surfing lesson was such a memorable experience! It is clear that the instructors know exactly how to adapt the lesson so that all age levels can be successful. My daughter was so excited to try surfing but was nervous that she wouldn't be able to do it. This lesson made her feel empowered and it was the highlight of her trip! I highly recommend Wave Riding School!

Can older ladies who never surfed before be taught safely?

Typically start at age 3 and this week we had a guest at 79 that went surfing. Surfing is a physical activity and you want to make sure you are comfortable with the activity. You know your physical capabilities better than anyone. You can visit our website to view videos of how the lessons work to make the best judgment call on your end as to whether it is something you would like to participant in.
