Being a 66 year old grandmother, I wanted to start checking off my bucket list so I asked my children and grandsons if anyone would want to try paddle boarding with me. Everyone said yes so we took a group of 9 of us and they could not have been more friendly or helpful. We got a private instruction on the land before we put ourselves into the water. Each one of us was able to get up and successfully learned within the first 1/2 hour, laughing as each of us took at least one spill into the very warm water that the bay holds. We each were able to make it out to a certain point, stand up in the water and reach the sand with our oars everywhere we went so we were never in fear of getting hurt or getting too far away from the others. Every minute was of pure joy for all of us. We will definitely be doing this every year and going to this place to rent them from. My only complaint is that the place is a little hard to find from the street. But once you are there, it is a great time! Thank you for checking one more thing off my bucket list!

This was my and my family’s first experience paddle boarding. I had three young children with me ages 6, 7 and 10. They shared one board. After the children grew tired of paddle boarding, they decided to swim. The water is about three to four feet deep, even very far out. I decided to let them splash around with their life vests on while I paddled out further on my board. It was awesome. I went out pretty far but never got to a point where I couldn’t stand if I fell off of the board. The water was warm and calm. I visit Ocmd every summer and 48th St Water Sports will be on the agenda for each visit going forward. The staff is friendly, the activities are fun and it is very affordable.

We had a great time on the 90 minute kayak eco tour. Emma was our guide - sweet, knowledgeable and very friendly. Paddled around the bay, saw birds, mussels, fish and a horseshoe crab. My husband and our teenagers came with us - appreciated each having our own kayak. Brought our Go Pro for pics. Highly recommend. Make reservations in advance.

The picture that is posted is clearly not from this establishment as Maryland does not have palm trees. Don't let the picture decieve. you.

Hi, first I want to thank you for your review. I just wish you would had actually visited our business before you reviewed. Palm trees are not local to this area, but we spend $4000 a year to truck in tropical flowers and palm trees to create a tropical setting for the esthetic. Much like the surrounding business that have an outdoor area. We actually, at the end of every season, donate most of our plants to a skills center. Kids with autism and other changeling set backs tend to the plants and sell them at the end of the winter for there school. So again thank you for your review.

We traveled here hoping to do the eco kayak tour that is featured on their website only to be informed that the eco tours only go out of their 67th street paddle cove. They did make us a reservation for a tour later that day; however, the price on the website of $25 was incorrect, it is actually $35 per person. It was worth every penny, but I hope to save others the confusion that we experienced.

We sincerely apologize, it was never our intention to mislead anybody. Our website has been changed. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, a phone call would have worked too. Glad you had a great time. That's why we moved it to are 67th Street location. A perfect Eco Tour haven. Thank you and hope to see you soon.

Two adults and an 8 year old all rented paddleboards, we had such an excellent time. They show you how to operate it and tell you exactly where you can go within your timeframe. Superfun!!

This paddleboarding experience was great relaxing time. It was located behind a hotel on a quiet section of the bayside area of ocean city (not far from Seacrets). Jamie was our tour guide/instructor and he made us feel very comfortable and gave us great tips while we were out paddleboarding. Before heading out on the water, Jamie gives a little of instruction on how to paddleboard; once we receive all our equipment, we were slowly launched 2 by 2 out onto the water. Once out on the water, you get great views of the shoreline at night. There was an oncoming storm the night we went so we got to see some cool views of lightning out on the water. If you're worried about falling in or drowning, have no fear, its only a few feet deep you're given a life vest, and Jamie is also a lifeguard. You'll see fish and crabs swimming along the water with you. Because of the lights underneath the paddle board, fish will be attracted to the board and will jump onto it. All in all, a great way to be slightly outdoorsy, but also not get burned to a crisp while at the beach.

It's hard to find something my teenage son and I can do together without bloodshed. Kayaking to Bird Island was a great vacation outing where we were both happy. I was excited to see birds, crabs, mollusks, bait fish, sea grass, and lots of shells. My kid was excited to see 20-something's drinking at Seacrets while he tried to smack me with his paddle.
I love kayaking here. It's shallow enough not to ever worry about getting in trouble. It's close enough to shore to never worry about being stranded, and yet there is a lot to see.
I've rented here three times. The staff is terrific: professional, knowledgable, and safe. Thanks! See you next year!

I have been visiting 48th St. Watersports for years and have had a fantastic experience every single time. There's no question I'll keep coming back for as long as I visit Ocean City (I come all the way from Colorado). The great experience starts with the fantastic owners and staff. They're super friendly, they provide great training if you need it, they provide recommendations on how to have the best experience, and will give you up to the minute info on the conditions of the water and wind (great for sailing!).
I'm trying to be concise here, but these are some of the things I love about this place:
- Great staff, as I already mentioned
- Location: the 48th St. location has a perfect little bayside beach to launch your craft of choice. That part of the bay is nice and shallow which is great for beginners. It's also right next to Seacrets and OC Steamers, which we love to walk over to and hit up for lunch after some fun on the water. I haven't been to the other locations but I'm sure they're nice as well.
- Price: I swear every time I think, "That's all this costs?" I don't think you can find more affordable entertainment in Ocean City.
- Gear: Over the years, I've used almost everything they have: Hobie catamarans, SUP's, wind surfers and kayaks. The equipment always works great, is clean and is always fun.
- Lack of crowds - We never have to wait very long to get on the water and the little beach is so peaceful.
- The little things: There are shelves where you can store your flip flops and non-valuables, and they'll lock your valuables like car keys and wallets in their safe. You can also call ahead and ask what conditions are like, which is really nice.
It's great to see this business doing well as they keep improving their facilities every year with more gear and upgrades. I love this place and will keep visiting for years to come.

My first time trying this out. It was a very positive experience. Quick and thorough lesson gets you up and paddling in no time. Water is very shallow (up to the hips, approximately) so it is very safe and stress free. Want to try out the sailboats next season. Also, prices were very reasonable and staff was super nice. 5 stars

Do you rent Pontoon boats ?

Nope. They have kayaks, SUPs, sailboats. There are other places that do rent pontoon boats though. You'll find tons of ads in the coupon books that are all over the place.
