Housed in a former school, classrooms serve as various war galleries. Some are too detailed whereas others are too broad. Revolution through current day conflicts. We were there for two hours and didn’t finish. Veterans get in free. Their banquet room in the gym is available for rental.

The Maryland Veterans Memorial Museum in Charles County, MD opened it's doors in June, 2013, in the former Glasva Elementary School in Newburg. A wonderful historical experience, outstanding exhibits, and knowledgeable volunteer staff make this museum a must-see. There are continuing commemorative displays for The War of 1812 and The Civil War, as well as many rotating exhibits. There are a variety of military uniforms on display as well as a multitude of items representing all veterans of all national wars including Native-Americans, African-Americans, and women in the military. If you have an opportunity to visit this museum, do it. Even in you have little to no interest in history or the U.S. Military, you can't miss The Maryland Veterans Memorial Museum!

This is the escape route of John Wilkes Booth, a must drive for history buffs. Very scenic ride with plaques marking the route

Very informative personal tour through the history of our Veterans from the war of 1812 to present day conflicts. Volunteers are happy to answer all questions. Great variety of collections of uniforms, equipment, and models. A great way to spend Memorial Day and pay honor to those who served. Free. Handicap friendly.

They have done a fine job of covering the time period from the American Revolution to Afghanistan and Iraq. There is a very impressive about of information about the War of 1812. I was also impressed with the Vietnam War display. It is free and a good stop for anyone interested in history.

I've been there twice this year. The volunteers have done an outstanding job building and equipping these displays! There reflect from our Revolutionary War to present day action in The "Sand Box".Very well done. Please visit and donate...it's all volunteer and it is the MARYLAND Veterans Museum.

Stopped by to see the facility because my Mom was a veteran and served in World War II and it is going to be the Information Center for the Charles County House & Garden Tour this May. The exhibits are well put together and very interesting. It makes you appreciate what our service men and women gave up to protect our freedoms. Every parent should take their child to experience this place, and every adult should stop by and see what they can do to help.

My first visit was a mind blower! I had no idea of the contents of this small museum. Displays include all wars from the Revolutionary to Gulf War. They are fascinating to say the least! I could have stayed in there for hours, but had to leave as they were about to close. I know I'll be back!

This place is very nice. It is small, but jammed packed with wonderful history, and information. The staff are great! The exhibits well done. It is easy to lose yourself walking around looking and reading for a few hours. The staff were knowledgeable, and they are all volunteers, they really have their hearts into this place and it shows. If you are driving up or down HWY 301 in Southern Maryland take the tame to pull in and look around. Totally worth the time.

This is not a huge exhibit but it is extremely well done. I would enthusiastically endorse folks to stop while on U.S. 301 and take a break from driving to see this very personalized exhibit.

I am going to stop again this fall because I was so impressed.
