Beautiful location with amazing staff members.

I was visiting my family and we decided to come here on a Wednesday during covid times. They offer outdoor seating with blankets provided inside free of charge. They will also start a fire for you if its cold outside. Since its outdoor seating you can have large groups.

They were out of their campaigns so they let me bring in my own since that's the only thing I drink. They offer a verity of snacks and drinks.

You can also bring your dogs!

Their staff members were so nice and outgoing. I highly recommend spending a few hours here.

*Face masks are required inside when ordering or while using the restrooms.

They also have a cute shop inside if you wanted to purchase a hoodie or a mug.

We have been wine club members of this winery since the very beginning when they first opened because the wines are awesome! Ed and Sarah have really done an excellent job bringing awesome wines to Maryland. We especially love the Bordeaux style reds but we also enjoy all their whites. There isn't a bad wine at this winery, they are all amazing. The tasting room is "green" which is also amazing. It stands out because it is build mostly from materials found on the property, has a living roof, and is powered by the sun (solar power). Even the tables inside are made from trees harvested from the property. When you visit take the tour to learn more about the winery - It's really worth it. Enjoy!

I’ve been here a few times and I’m never disappointed. I confess I’m a wine snob so if you consider yourself one, this is probably the winery for you. Yea it’s expensive for Maryland but honestly the wine and environment makes you feel like you just landed in Santa Rosa for the afternoon minus the jet lag. I loved the Chardonnay and I dare say it was comparable to Bacigalupi but I won’t pay 65 for a chard in MD. Service was impressive with explanations for each pour and even the cheese and food offerings. I highly recommend them. If you are local to Carroll - try Serpent Ridge too.

Recommended by numerous friends, made reservations for a breezy, but sunny Friday afternoon in April. The setting is pleasant and the server solicitous. The three of us felt the wine was pricey for the quality $14.50 for a glass of 2019 Chardonnay and the mixed wine flights (6oz) $22.00--2019 Gruner Veltliner, 2016 Reserve Chardonnay, and 2017 Syrah . I would not plan on returning or consider becoming a member, yet I am glad we visited this local winery.

We were exploring the area a just stopped in. Large place with a big field that people can use to picnic. I was disappointed because they don't have any sweet wines in their selection. But they do have a nice selection of other things like cheese, bread, olive oils two sample. But my girlfriend, who loves dry wines, said that the wines that she tried were exceptionally good even if a bit pricey. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Terribly expensive. Not mature wines for the price and a somewhat sterile experience. Live somewaht nearby and have been Maryland wine followers for over 20 years. Have visited before they became so pricey and liked the quality of the wines for the price. But now a huge disappointment of the quality of the wine vs. the price. Suggest go to other wineries in MD instead.

Always looking for a great vineyard or winery to visit friends suggested Black Ankle. To get there you travel back narrow country roads wondering if you on the right road...but then you get to the rolling hills of grape vines and what a beautiful sight.
We pulled into the lot and it was full- we seem to be the last ones to hear about this place. Make sure to make reservations you need them. They give you 2 1/2 hours to sit relax and drink.
The vineyard has three different areas to sit in all with the wonderful view of the vineyard.
You can bring your own lunch or snacks (food also available to order) and order wine by glass, flight or bottle.
Service was wonderful and we will definitely be back !

This was our first visit and it was wonderful! The setting is lovely and the wine did not disappoint! It was not for my friend as he does not like dry wine but he enjoyed the bread with olive oil. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. Will be back for another visit.

What’s a Black Ankle Winery?

We were blown away with this hidden gem nestled in Carroll County.

Easy to get to (trust Waze) Great parking and wonder surroundings. We had arranged a fire pit at our table - COVID responsible- easy ordering of wine delivered to your table.

Totally Impressed - wine, staff, facilities and views.
