Wine Beer and Spirit Tour in Frederick

5 reviews
In addition to its wealth of Civil War–era history, Frederick is also a destination for its wineries, breweries, and distilleries. On this half-day, small-group tour, visit three different producers and enjoy samples of some of the region’s best wines, beers, and spirits. Round-trip transportation from a centrally located meeting point lets you sip without worry, and cheese and charcuterie plates are also available as an added upgrade.

Recommended by numerous friends, made reservations for a breezy, but sunny Friday afternoon in April. The setting is pleasant and the server solicitous. The three of us felt the wine was pricey for the quality $14.50 for a glass of 2019 Chardonnay and the mixed wine flights (6oz) $22.00--2019 Gruner Veltliner, 2016 Reserve Chardonnay, and 2017 Syrah . I would not plan on returning or consider becoming a member, yet I am glad we visited this local winery.

Beautiful location with amazing staff members. I was visiting my family and we decided to come here on a Wednesday during covid times. They offer outdoor seating with blankets provided inside free of charge. They will also start a fire for you if its cold outside. Since its outdoor seating you can have large groups. They were out of their campaigns so they let me bring in my own since that's the only thing I drink. They offer a verity of snacks and drinks. You can also bring your dogs! Their staff members were so nice and outgoing. I highly recommend spending a few hours here. *Face masks are required inside when ordering or while using the restrooms. They also have a cute shop inside if you wanted to purchase a hoodie or a mug.

What’s a Black Ankle Winery? We were blown away with this hidden gem nestled in Carroll County. Easy to get to (trust Waze) Great parking and wonder surroundings. We had arranged a fire pit at our table - COVID responsible- easy ordering of wine delivered to your table. Totally Impressed - wine, staff, facilities and views.

Always looking for a great vineyard or winery to visit friends suggested Black Ankle. To get there you travel back narrow country roads wondering if you on the right road...but then you get to the rolling hills of grape vines and what a beautiful sight. We pulled into the lot and it was full- we seem to be the last ones to hear about this place. Make sure to make reservations you need them. They give you 2 1/2 hours to sit relax and drink. The vineyard has three different areas to sit in all with the wonderful view of the vineyard. You can bring your own lunch or snacks (food also available to order) and order wine by glass, flight or bottle. Service was wonderful and we will definitely be back !

If you enjoy the taste of higher end California Red Blends, then Black Ankle is a place you need to visit and a club you need to join! While some of the premier wines have a $55 price point (like Slate 5), you can also find some excellent reds at the $28 price point as well (Passeggiata)! The winery also features an array of excellent white wines as well! As you enter the winery, you immediately feel like you arrived in California with the stucco style buildings along with an eco-friendly decorum vibe that encourages you to relax! I invited my team of twenty to the winery for an enjoyable evening of tastings and food! Everyone was thrilled with the education along with the excellent service provided by Marianna and the entire #BAWTeam! Looking forward to enjoying more time at BAW in 2020 and beyond! #Cheers🍷🍷 Joe D - Finksburg, MD
