Excellent summer activities for all ages. The cost was pricey but worth it for the memories and the smiles. The mountain coaster is a fantastic ride. The varying levels of ropes courses are challenging enough for all ages. For 2020, the longer course is not open and the mountain coaster/park is only open Wednesdays thru Sundays according to their website. Be sure to check the website before heading out. Staff were wearing masks and the ticket area was well marked for social-distancing. There are signs everywhere that masks are required on all outdoor activities. There was hand sanitizer available for public use. While the apparatus was sprayed each use, it didn't have time to dry and did not have enough of an "antiseptic odor" nor sufficient drying time to convince me it was adequately sanitized. It was also easy to get a same-day tee time at Fantasy Valley Golf Course. We were glad to help support the course during such tough times and were impressed at the challenge level it offered. We will be back for sure!

Family visited wisp over memorial day weekend. Beautiful day for family outing. Chose the mountain coaster, which h was a fun ride for all ages. Poorly managed; waited over an hour when it could easily have been a 20-30 min wait if they had let more than 2cars go every 10 min. Crazy!!! Even though staffing was obviously an issue they had sufficient staff while we were there.

This is specifically for the mountain coaster. We arrived 9:40am and even though they don’t open until 10am a line had already formed. We quickly got tickets (a 3 pack each for the mtn coaster) and got in line. We were near the front and were on at about 10:20am. The coaster brings you high up the mtn and then let’s you go at your own speed. No big drops or anything like on a regular coaster but equally fun and fast depending on how much you pull the brakes. The line was growing fast when we got down so after the first ride we quickly got back in line for a 45 min wait. For our third trip the line was over an hour! So while the mountain coaster was a lot of fun, I definitely wouldn’t say it’s worth an hour wait! And I don’t think we would’ve gone if it was just for one ride either. An easy way to solve this problem is for them to be open everyday, not just Thursday-Sunday. Also we were able to bring our dog to hang out with the person in the group not riding.

Terrible experience with the Mountain coaster- Surprised us and we had to spend $61 for 2 people instead of $34. Okay. And then the "4-5 minute ride" was 4 minutes going up, and MAYBE 90 seconds coming down. Couldn't go speedy at all either, was very limited and automatically breaked almost the entire time. It was over before it started. Not sure why it was a 30 minute line on a random afternoon for this experience. You are better off going to a park and playing there for free.

We prepaid over $300 for 9 people to ride the mountain coaster. We arrived before our 11:00AM reservation and were told the ride was closed because of maintenance issues. We we’re told no refunds unless we purchased insurance. First of all there was no choice to pay for insurance on their site. What gives them the right to take our money and not provide the service? The staff was not even interested in providing customer service and told us we were rude. Really? Don’t spend your money at Wisp and go somewhere else. We will be contacting our credit card company to contest the charge. Glenn S.

While our experience in Deep Creek Lake was great, Wisp Resort leaves much to be desired. We highly recommend booking else where to get better bang for your buck. Our experience was subpar as our room was far from the lobby, the hallways reeked of weed and mold, there were stains on the carpet, a broken light in the bathroom, pink mold around the shower, and an AC unit that was on its last leg. We also tried to go to the restaurant onsite the night we arrived only to find out they closed over an hour early. Proceed with caution and look elsewhere!

We went to Wisp in July to take advantage of some of the activities they had to offer.
We started with the mountain coaster. The ride itself is fast and fun. You have control of the brakes and can zoom down the mountain pretty fast. However, that also means that slower riders can slow down the line for everyone. We waited about 1.5 hours to get on. When some riders take it down the mountain too slow, the staff has to wait for them to clear the track before they send others up. Three of us went onto the coaster so we bought a 3-pack for $44 (plus tax) so all three of us could go down one time.
We also tried the spider monkey ropes course. This was also fun and challenging. The staff manning the course was helpful and friendly.
Our youngest enjoyed playing on the small playground, too.

Went for the first time this past weekend and was very disappointed. We called before going to check what was open. We were told that only the zip lines were closed due to covid, but everything else was running. However, no one was working the ropes course and we couldn't find anyone to ask- it was very unorganized and chaotic. We ended up buying tickets to the gem mining and zip coaster instead. We were impressed that the staff were cleaning each coaster, but we waited in line for an hour with other guests who were NOT social distancing nor wearing masks. I was shocked that there was no signage for staying 6 feet apart, and no markings on the ground. I didn't feel safe at all and I wouldn't recommend any of the activities at Wisp unless they address and enforce some of the safety guidelines right now.

Shamrockcb,
Thank you for taking the time to review Wisp Resort. The health and safety of our guests and staff are our top concern during this time. There is signage posted at the Mountain Coaster queuing area that does address social distancing. However, currently, there is not a mandate in the state of Maryland for face masks to be worn outdoors. All ticketing is done inside the Mountain Park building which is the tent like building so we apologize if there was any confusion in getting access to the canopy tours. The complete list of COVID-19 guidelines implemented at Wisp Resort can be found on our website.
We would welcome a conversation to discuss your experience more in depth if you would be so kind as to email your contact information to info@wispresort.com with subject: Trip Advisor, we will have a Manager get in touch with you directly.
Thank you,
-The Team at Wisp

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. A broken mountain coaster, that costs $20 a ride (if you buy a 3 pack) and we get no refund? We can come back anytime within the next 365 days though, so thanks for nothing and now we are out $300. What a customer service disaster.

Very rude receptionist. Not accomodating. She was giving us a hard time to transfer us to a different room.
She told us that they already reserved the rooms to other customers that are not even coming until the next day. I hate to say that we’re staying here for 2 nights.
We’ve been to different ski lodge, but this place is one of the worst.

My daughters are going there tomorrow and ride the cable car and I do not want to. Is there a lounge that I can wait in/
Written August 20, 2018
I’m not sure what the cable car is, but if it’s at the same place with the mountain coaster and other activities, there is an indoor building (where you buy tickets) that has food for sale. I am pretty sure there are tables and chairs in there.

I don't think so. It's right next to the lake, but the only "beach" area at the lake is in the state park, which is a couple of miles away. I did not see a swimming pool.

Jackie d,
Thank you for your question. The Lodge at Wisp does allow smaller dogs and there is a pet fee associated with the stay. The resort itself does allow leased dogs. We just ask that you please clean up after your pet and be respectful of other guests. Hope to see you and your four-legged friend on the mountain soon!
Thank you,
Wisp Resort

I am coming with a group. What kind of rooms do you have? Do you have rooms with 2 double beds? Are there chairs in the rooms? Does each room have a private bath? For a group, are meals ordered from a menu or are they buffet style? Do people dress up for dinner? I am coming in November with the Knittreat. Are you providing a coffee break? Is there a coffee maker in the room? Is there a refrigerator in the room? Thanks.

Sounds like you're looking to stay at the hotel. I would check directly with them. However, there is also the option of renting a condo or house through Railey Mountain Lake Vacations, which I would recommend exploring

How many ski runs and difficulty of double blacks ? Tree skiing ? Height of mountain and how many lifts ?
Is there a train to mountain or alternately easiest way to get there. We are a group of 4 coming from Australia

I've skied in Europe and Colorado. Wisp does not have that type of elevation or terrain. however Wisp is a very nice family ski resort for easy skiing. We brought our 5 yr old there for his first ski trip. The black slopes are not too difficult. Good vertical but not very long. transport to the mountain in by car or bus.
