Such a great concept! Borrow a book, sit and wine taste while you read. Very generous with their wines loved Jam Jar, sweet red. Staff were great and knowledgeable about wine. Definitely worth a stop

Stopped in for wine tasting and was charmed by Patty and this lovely place. Ended up getting a glass of wonderful pinot noir and then taking home a bottle and cute shirt. They sell used books and the shop is such a great place to chill

We recently took our first trip to Deep Creek Lake and heard about this unique venue. As wine lovers and avid readers, we just had to see what Black Bear Wine and Words was all about and we were very happy with what we found. Patty greeted us with warmth and explained the price of the books ($1 for paperbacks, $3 for hardcover), the daily tasting, and a bit about their current selections. We bought a bottle of Pinot Noir from Chili and sat down to drink it while we browsed the collection of books. Laura, a co-owner with her Husband, showed up while we were there and explained a bot more about their selection. They wanted to offer wines with a price-point under $30, yet had something for everybody - whether they are world travelers or enjoy a particular region. We ended up staying 90 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Both Laura and Patty were very engaging and made our visit a highlight of our long weekend. For anybody that would like a great selection of wine and used books - this is the place to go when you're traveling to Deep Creek Lake.

I was showing guests around Deep Creek Maryland and decided to give Wine and Words a try based on the great things I read on Trip Advisor. They not only lived up to their Trip Advisor rating but exceeded it with me and my party. Patty was inviting and engaging the minute we walked in. She made the whole experience wonderful as we drank our wines that she recommended based on our preferences. We also ordered the cheese plate to accompany the wine and it was fresh and delightful. It was the perfect accompaniment for our wine drinking experience. She did such a good job recommending wine that we bought bottles to go. Great job Patty and we look forward to seeing you again next time we stop by.

Patti set up a really nice cheese plate and tasting for four of us. The cheese was lovely and the wine was interesting too. We all really enjoyed it!

From when we arrived we were well taken cared of. They accomadated food I wanted that wasnt on menu and they had great drink and good food. I will visit again for sure.

What a friendly owner in a cute, relaxing setting. Enjoyed the setting and the wine and we brought some great wine home for dinner! Fun, eclectic book selection as well! Looking forward to stopping in again!

My wife & I recently visited Wine & Words in early November. Barry immediately greeted us, introduced himself & invited us to join in a free Wine Tasting with another couple. We sampled a Red, a White & a Dessert Wine. Barry was so informative RE: the wines but more importantly- so friendly with all four of us during our Sampling! It truly felt like spending time with old friends!
My wife & I purchaserd a bottle of the Dessert wine & shared it while we browsed their book collection. Patty joined us in cheering on the Steelers to a win over the Rams! What a wonderful start to our getaway weekend! We definitely will be back!
