The actual rock isn’t much but it’s an interesting story. And leonardtown is awesome. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

One would think Ben and Mrs Too have a thing for rocks. We have been to see Gibraltar across the strait from Morocco, Devil’s Tower in Wyoming, Pompey’s Pillar in Montana, Plymouth in Massachusetts, and now Moll Dyer Rock in Southern Maryland. This is pretty...More

Don't believe what you saw on 'Sleepy Hollow!' Moll Dyer lived in St. Mary's County and her true story is fascinating, but sad. You must here it for yourself, but I will tell you that her life ended here at the rock, as legend says.

Moll Dyer Rock. It is a neat little piece of local history that I introduce all of my out of town friends to. The legend is engaging, and I've even randomly happened upon a major network documentary on this silly little thing. Is the rock...More

Yep, it's a rock. It's got a cool story attached to it, but strangely there's no plaque or anything nearby to tell the story. Anyway apparently some girl who was accused of being a witch died on this rock. Yea, it's a little dark. But...More

We took friends from Italy to view this rock back in June of 2016. The 11-yr.-old was fascinated by the story/legend and of course, did not miss the opportunity to strike the famous "Moll Dyer" pose.

We prepared for the rock by watching some good YouTube videos about Moll Dyer. The rock is a short walk from The Front Porch Restaurant where we had enjoyed dinner. The rock itself is very plain looking but one can see the spot where the...More

As far as rock-based tourist attractions are considered, this is unquestionably the grandest upon which I've ever lain my eyes. In the scars of the rock you can not just see but deeply feel the hurt and shame of the late Moll Dyer. Strongly recommended.

Was in Leonardtown on business and was shown the Moll Dyer Rock. It is located next to the Historical Society, which is the old jail. Named after a local witch the legend is that Moll was blamed for pretty much everything that went wrong in...More

Her handpints are still on this rock and Leonardtown forklore and the Discovery Channel claim that the handprints we're from a witch that was ran out of town. It is supposed to be very bad luck to place your hands in the handprints
