Had a good time exploring the source of the building stone for the C & O canal's Monocacy aqueduct. the trails are well maintained and You can see a long dicstance fron the mumerous overlookson and near the summit.

Nice hike, can be very busy on beautiful day, but worth it. Can find many spot for fabulous pictures. Enjoyable for picnics. Climber can find nice area to practice this hobby. In general , the ride, or walk is very enjoyable

We live in DC and occasionally take the 45 minute drive up here for a good hike on a sunny day. The terrain is mixed, with some strenuous ascents, but nothing too treacherous. Fun and spectacular views on a clear day.

It depends on how long of a hike you want. I parked at the bottom and hiked all the way up. As the other person said, there is also parking near the top if you just want to see the sights and do a short walk to the summit.

There's the Comus Inn as Andrea B mentionned and there is also the Sugarloaf Mountain winery (smvwinery) but it mostly have dried/cured meats/sausages, cheeses, and cracker to enjoy with the wine. The winery invites visitors... More
