This place is a joke. They recently fired their long standing executive director who had turned this RR around. Brought in a bunch of out of towners to run it now. Not a way to run a local attraction. I will not be returning and I recommend that you do not either.

Took the train ride to Frostburg. It was a nice leisure trip out with lots of scenery. We were in the lounge car which has great seating in chairs or at tables. There are free beverages or you can purchase alcoholic beverages, and you also receive a complimentary tray of snacks. There is an attendant to serve you and answer questions. The conductor actually owns the lounge car and he has an interesting story to tell about it. Once in Frostburg you have 1 and 1/2 hours to walk up the hill to the town and see the shops on the main street and you can also grab a bite to eat. The whole trip lasts 4 and 1/2 hours and it well worth the time. I would like to go again in the fall as I am sure it looks great with all the changing colors.

Railroad parking lot straight off exit, get parking token while buying ticket for free parking. Take your bike to the end of the platform for them to load it in caboose, take your gear with you on the train. Little over an hour up on train, train takes 1 1/2 hours before it starts back. Little cafes at both ends are the best places to eat, better than up the steep hill in Frostburg. Its cold on the way back because its mostly downhill, and you don't pedal all the time. You'll need a mountable light for super dark long tunnel on the way back, tunnel lights aren't bright enough inside. Bring a jacket if its cloudy and 70 or below. No water or bathroom stops on the way back, in May 2010. Mostly farms and nature on ride back, need map to chart where you are using the pole markers. Won't see roads or houses until last section of ride.

Love taking my grandkids on the east train. I isn't as good as it used to be but it is still fun. Ride was way too short and the kids searched for eggs in tall grass next to the track so the younger kids really lost out.

My wife booked ride on the Train for my birthday. We got the lunch and beverage deal. Really was a scenic ride and the meal was very good.
