This is considered an outstanding canoe/kayak set of trails, and says it's very well marked. The signs on the trails inside the island itself are pretty well marked, but not as great as they can be. If you travel around the outside of the island, it is very easy to miss Dougherty Creek Canal that gets you back to the... More

This state park on the Chesapeake Bay has miles of paddling trails, many of the in protected channels off the Bay. I paddled the "A" route and saw lots of wildlife. The trails are very well marked The employees in the Park office were very friendly and helpful. Although I did not camp there, I did bike through the campground... More

I am somewhat local to the area so we went for the first time to kayak. Everyone who works there is very helpful and pleasant. Many water trails that lead to beaches or just around the islands. A fun adventure. I would like to go back and camp someday!

We loved our stay! Very relaxing and although we didn't kayak, we did walk the trails through the Forrest every day and we biked them too. Overall this actually is one of the nicer State Parks we have been to if you (like we were) are looking for a nice relaxing time to bond with nature and enjoy the peace... More

My family and I didn't really enjoy this park as we thought we would. We stay in loop C site 78. The horse flies are TERRIBLE. They literally follow you to the rest room. Also the men's bathroom in loop C smells awful. This truly would be an amazing park if it weren't for the horse flies and mosquito bugs.... More

Not crowded except during special events. Make a reservation early online to get your choice site. Great place to teach the kids about fishing, crabbing, kayaking, wildlife and the shore.

Nice place to kayak with numerous routes to choose. Short trips through marshes or longer routes around the perimeter. Nice beach area to rest, swim or whatever. Very enjoyable.

If you are looking for a place that is nice, quiet, clean, and relaxing then this is the place for you! BF picked it out so we would have some place to relax and it fit the bill. Extremely nice staff; the bathrooms were wicked clean. The bunkhouse for loop B (I think) had been renovated and was super nice;... More

My parents, uncle and aunt, and husband each stayed in our RV/travel trailers for a long weekend during Columbus Day. The campground is peaceful and quiet. There are some sites that are less desirable than others and are located at a high traffic area (i.e. bathrooms, etc.) and are in full sun all day. I would recommend for this weekend... More

We rented a full service cabin for the week. We love to kayak and it is beautiful there! We kayaked two days for 4 hours or so. While kayaking near the beach that you can only get to by boat, we saw at least two stingrays swimming right under us! So cool! We also saw lots of herons, an osprey,... More
