A small group of us went on the Winter Paddle in December 2022. It was well organised and a brilliant way to spend a Sunday morning. Elaine and Kate at Canoe Wild were excellent hosts. Wholeheartedly recommend to anyone with a sense of adventure.

We visited here today for the first time as a birthday treat for my husband and son. We received a lovely reception from the girl on reception who was charming and helpful. Great location, beautiful scenery along the river and well organised. We will definitely return. Thank you.

Fantastic day! Lovely, helpful, efficient staff at Fordwich and Grove Ferry and a beautiful river to spend the day on. We did the Fordwich - Grove Ferry 10 mile trip and lost count of the kingfishers we saw. A very quiet stretch of river and a very happy day.

We had a lovely time and was very relaxing until a guy who worked for Canoe Wild followed us around the river until the end making us feel pressured to paddle in time and not allowing us to stop. We had paid for the trip from Fordwich to Grove Ferry for £50 and it did not state we would be escorted.
We have previously canoed with you and do not appreciate being followed and watched. Bad experience this time unfortunately

Hi Abbi,
Thank you for your review. We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that it is part of our daily operating procedures to conduct a full Fordwich to Grove Ferry paddle. This paddle allows one of our team to assess the river, conduct a visual survey of the river features including the banks and trees that potentally could afect the flow of the river. We also assess the ability of our paddlers to pass the low lying tree's and make sure the river is navigable. We are also able to support any of our paddlers who may need some assistance when on their paddle. We offer additional paddle instruction and answer any questions that paddlers may have such as (how far is it to go? is the current flowing with or against us, etc). We are sorry if you felt the presense of our team member was off putting but i hope this explanation highlights the importance of why we put our team on the river. Paddlers saftey and enjoyment is our priorty and we maintain that both on land during your brief as well as when you are on the water.
We hope this reassures you and we look forward to welcoming you back
Kind regards
Canoe Wild.

What an absolute fantastic time! From turning up and being greeted by team at Grove ferry, we got the mini bus to Fordwich immediately, no hanging around. Once at Fordwich 5 of us was kitted out and given a chat by one of the team.
We hired 5 kayaks (all big mid 40's males) entered the water and off we went... We have never laughed so much while padding down the river. The scenery is absolutely out of this world and the sun was blaring into the gin clear water. All of us fell in at some point, but was so refreshing! After two and a half hours of casual paddling we reached Grove ferry,(which was bustling with canoes, people on paddle boards, boats having bbq's) where we was greated and moored up by more friendly staff.... Then straight to the Grove ferry pub for refreshments and watched a live band...
If you get a chance book, you'll have an amazing day!
Thank you so much.

Couldn’t recommend this activity more! We booked a multi guided activity for 10 of us, which was perfect as we had a mix of kayakers and paddle boarders of all different abilities without having to book as two different groups. The instructor Chelsea did a great job of teaching us the basics at the beginning, but then giving us the freedom to enjoy the river depending on our abilities. We ended up having such a laugh, we’re already talking about booking this again and hoping Chelsea can come with us again!

Hired 2 canoes to paddle from Fordwich to Grove Ferry on a beautiful sunny morning. The river was beautifully clear, plenty of fish could be seen swimming alongside. At first the river meanders slowly through tree lined banks. After the lake you start to notice civilisation again, before it ducks back into the woods. A most wonderful experience which we have done twice this year. At a leisurely pace it will take about 2.5 hours which includes plenty of time to stop and take in the wildlife. Would definitely recommend except on a very windy day.

Sadly the manager has been dishonest on his response to my review. He said he could perhaps spare his son only when I caused a fuss. Very disappointed with the experience and the rudeness of the people there.

What is the fordwich address? I can only see the grove ferry one on the website? Thank you so much.
Canoe_Wild
Canterbury, UK
Our fordwich site does not have a post code but a generic postcode for fordwich is CT2 0DB - before you reach this destination you will see a sign saying fordwich, to the left of the sign is a track that leads to our site. If you go over the hump bridge you have gone too far.
If you have any problems finding us then give us a call for more directions!
Kind regards,
Lucy

We're coming down this weekend and I need to keep the dog entertained while the kids are canoeing. I fear she will be a liability in the canoe. Is the river ok to swim in?
