Great Park

It is easy to miss out on one of the main attractions of New Caledonia. Brilliant scenery and bird life and fun activities here. A beautiful place worthy of research😎

I would love to have gone there, but due to a bit of wind and rain it was closed for a couple of days. It is supposed to be the best birding spot in New Caledonia, and we very much wanted to go, but it doesn't seem to take much to close roads and parks in New Caledonia. It is... More

The park came highly recommended, we were not disappointed. Arrived too late one day to do anything much but we're given very helpful information from the lovely lady at the park entrance. Chose to do a mountain bike and kayak combo. Top choice. The biking is easy even for a novice like me. Their are higher grade challenges available there.... More

I won't repeat the other glowing reviews of Francoise's tour - I agree whole-heatedly. The tour is a full-on, full day tour with constant information covering bio-geography, geology, natural and human history. I lapped it up! I would go back to camp in one of the many great little sites, and perhaps even hire one of the "tree=tents". Check them... More

We got good info. from the guy at the park entrance and hired 2 bikes for the day. We had a pleasant slow ride out to Pont Germain where we had lunch. Saw 2 Cagou on the off-road walks. 25km there and back on gently red dirt road. Bikes were fine too. A great day out and got some exercise... More

I spent a fascinating day in this national park in July. I had read reviews on Tripadvisor from people who had rented a car for the day saying that they had been disappointed, and I might have felt the same had I gone the same way (although the scenery is majestic) but if you go with someone who can tell... Hired a car and stumbled on it by accident. Needed food and thought we'd get it in Yate - not a hope so take a picnic! A great out doors place, good for mountain biking or casual biking, kayaking, hiking, etc. Great views and scenery, plus a bus tour to a 1000 year old tree and a chance to see... More

The road from Nouméa to the Blue River National Park is a great road with smooth surface. Probably just resurfaced. But there is no centre line which some getting used to when you normally drive on the left side of the road. It is about 80km from Nouméa. There is no petrol for sale on the road once out of... We hired a car for the day and headed off for the day to the park. Route SP3 has a few turns in it and took about 1.5 hrs from Noumea. We took the shuttle tour option (with 3 girls between 8-14) but you could have hired bikes or trekked around the park. Their is no self drive options in... More

We visited the park last week with a guide called Francios Tran, mobile phone +687 786838, but from Noumea just use the last 6 numbers. Right from the prompt hotel pick-up, he didn't hardly stop for breath, and spoke in Japanese as well as perfect English. His knowledge of the geography, geology, and natural history, of New Caledonia is amazing.... More
