Very friendly crew. The captain had a lot of history about the area. The sunset was very beautiful. Would do it again. We were there in August of 2019 NOT 2020

The quality of your experience will likely depend on the other guests onboard. We looked forward to a "relaxation sunset cruise" and had a hellish two-hour ride. A group of about 12 other guests were celebrating a birthday onboard, and spent the two hours relentlessly screaming, cackling, and shouting. Grating music blasted over the top. The little bit of commentary by the captain focused on a local oil spill remediation ship and some navigational lights; nothing about the history of the canal, and it was too deafeningly loud to ask any questions. The sun went down about halfway through the cruise, so we spent half the trip in the dark. We couldn't get off the boat fast enough. On the plus side, the service was terrific and the crew was very friendly. With a different group of passengers, it could have been a lovely experience.

On a rambling drive on a lovely Saturday, we stopped by the farmers' market. There was a boat docked there, with a small sign saying tours were available. We booked on-line for that afternoon. About 14 people enjoyed a beautiful, informally organized trip up and down the river. We've been on many such tours, and this one may be our favorite. Captain Dan has retained genuine enthusiasm for his domain. The Summer Breeze seems to be an important part of the locals' social world.

What their website does not tell you is that they require a minimum of 8 passengers for a given timeslot or else they don't make that run. So your best bet is to sign up for a timeslot on their website, but that's not a guarantee that they will sail at that time. They will then contact you (email or text) as to whether they will be sailing then, and if not, what alternate times you can try. Other than that, the cruise was OK. It's two hours long. Maybe every 20 or 30 minutes, the captain will give some details of interest regarding the local landmarks. I was expecting more. They do sell alcoholic beverages on the cruise. On our cruise, there was a boisterous bunch in the back that detracted from enjoying an otherwise pleasant cruise.

We spent a week in Washington and Baltimore. This was the highlight of our trip. It was so very relaxing and fun. Everything was nice and we had lots of fun. We have done several cruises in other states. This was by far the best one ever even though the price was quite reasonable. The captain gets really involved with the passengers and personally talks to everyone. He also took pictures of couples who asked. The next time I am in Baltimore I will do this again. - Memphis TN
