This year for Father's Day, I decided to book the sunset cruise with Chesapeake City Water Tours. The online ticketing said they were nearly sold out and to call for availability. I was lucky to secure the last few tickets. I was immediately emailed a confirmation. Upon arrival, we waited at the dock for permission to board the large pontoon boat. Boarding started promptly at the designated cruise time. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Cruise was delayed by about 5-10 minutes due to the fact that we were waiting on ONE missing group that had reservations. Once staff determined that the missing party were still at least 30 minutes away, the decision was made to unfortunately set sail without them in order to prevent delaying the remainder of the guests from the sunset cruise.
On our cruise, we sailed the C&D canal passing Schaefer's Canal House and passing under the Chesapeake City Bridge. We saw lots of homes (and one dinosaur) along the canal. We were able to spot lots of birds nesting on buoys in the canal. It was a relaxing cruise that lasted about 1 hour in length. We sailed 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back. Dads were ALL treated to ONE FREE beer, if so desired, since it was Father's Day. Alcoholic beverages and a few snacks were available for purchase on board. There is a small restroom on board as well if needed.
Overall, we really enjoyed our sunset cruise. The water was calm. The crew were professional. The boat was clean and comfortable. It felt completely safe. We didn't get much of a colorful sunset on our particular cruise, but it was still enjoyable. Prices are not cheap, but reasonable. I would highly recommend.

Wow. We. Did we want to stay. Passing thru on the way home to Delaware from our usual trek to/from Lancaster, PA, we decided to take a peek at south Chesapeake City that views north Chesapeake City, Maryland across the C & D canal (Chesapeake Bay & Delaware Bay). Glad we peeked. Sorry we didn't stay...this time. We plan to be back...soon. What a neat place. The Canal, boats everywhere, people mingling about, sweet old period homes, restaurants to eat local fare, shops and boutiques to wander about, the 17 mile Mike Castle and Ben Cardin rail-trails pass through here situated along the canal. Vantage points here provide up close and personal experience with the cargo ships traversing to/from the two bays. Whew! Can't wait to explore and experience Chesapeake City north and south.

The entire experience was fantastic. Great crew, terrific scenery and very comfortable seating. Ease of boarding was important to us and we were not disappointed
Highly recommend the rum & reggae trip.
In addition to the boat, the surrounding town was quaint and interesting.
We will definitely do this again!

My wife and I had a great time. Captain Tim made sure that we had a great seat (not in direct sunlight) and answered our questions. He pointed out the headquarters of the Army Corp of Engineers which was interesting to me because my brother worked there. Great price and very interesting!

We went on the Rum and Reggae your last night and had an awesome time. The weather was beautiful, the rum runners were delicious and we met some great people. The staff was very friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

The crew was amazing! Captain DJ was very knowledgeable and helped to educate the most inquisitive of child minds! He spent almost the entire journey making conversation with my 8 year old. My son said he looks forward to seeing his “bro” DJ again soon.

Beautiful relaxing brunch trip. Scenic. Fun to look at shoreline and up river. Nice hour to spend with family. Courteous and fun crew. Would recommend. And yes the champagne is chilled for the mimosas.

The captain and 1st mate were very nice. They made the trip interesting and answered all questions. It was a relaxing smooth ride during the sunset cruise. My husband and I enjoy being on the water which has been few and far between during these times so it was nice for us to be able to do that and learn some things right in our own backyard. We would definitely do it again.

Had an amazing time on the sunset cruise with friends. The Grapefruit crushes were delicious and the music was perfect. Smooth ride with amazing views. This is a great way to spend your summer evening.

Wonderful relaxing cruise along the C & D canal. Learned some history and enjoyed seeing the changing colors. Chesapeake City is a very charming place.
