This is a small sailing boat which is nice. The captain and crew were very friendly, informative and helpful. You could choose to stay in a somewhat enclosed area away from the boom or you could put on a lifejacket and sit in the front or back and catch the breeze. Given that

Thanks 123Well-traveled1234 for your review and feedback. We are very appreciative that you were at ease with the intimacy size of the number of passengers that we can accommodate on our sailing cruises. People seem to like the fact that we only carry six passengers for each cruise. We enjoyed having you sail with us and look forward to having you back next year. We will look at how we can improve on the complimentary snacks that we provided. See you on the Bay!

Sailing is a very different experience from power boating. I'm thankful that the Eternal Hope sails out of Chesapeake Beach despite the shallow depths. I'll be back!

Thanks Cantony for your review. Yes, we agree sailing is a different experience from power boating. I am happy that your had the opportunity to experience the quietness of sailing. We are looking forward to the State of Maryland dredging the channel this fall so that next year you will not have any concerns about the depth of the channel. Hope to see you on the Bay...again!

All went well. Nice captain and first mate. We were offered choice of silent tour (no particular narration) or some pointing out of local sights and a little historical background information. We also had the choice to help sail the boat (as much or little as we wanted) or to

The pics look great and the crew seemed really nice. However, at certain times/tides the boat cannot enter/leave the marina! Apparently, the boat will drag on the bottom and potentially get stuck! We were told that the marina needs to be dredged. This risk was not communicated

Mr. Jackson, Thank you so very much for your review and comments. We value our customers’ comments whether they sail with us or not. We have customers who travel from Virginia, DC, Maryland, Delaware, Philadelphia, other states and countries. Our customers understand that there are some elements of Mother Nature that will affect their sailing experience. When these events occur we have to honor Mother Nature’s will and stand down. Safety is and always will be our top priority for our passengers. On July 13th, the day of your cruise, we noticed on the second cruise of the day, before your cruise, that the silt in the channel had shifted more to the middle of the channel. As a rule, when going out of the channel, we are to stay to the right side of the channel, however, with the need for dredging of the channel and the silt moving into the channel, we had been successfully going in and out of the channel in the middle. Coming back in on our second cruise of the day, we noticed that the boat was touching bottom. So if silt is moving more to the middle, we have no idea if the other side of the channel would allow us to pass. Since we had been going in and out using the middle of the channel, we now had no idea what would be safe and the tide was falling. By the way, we had been sailing in and out of the channel at low tide, but this time we did not want to take a chance and have a problem, which is why your cruise was cancelled. Two of the three couples on your cruise were able to reschedule, but you could not and we understood. As I stated earlier, people come from all over to go sailing with us. When the weather conditions turn bad or storms suddenly pop up, we cancel or reschedule the cruises. If the passengers cannot reschedule, we simply refund their fee for the cruise. We do not pay for gas or any other expenses related to getting to the cruise. Based on our experience with your cruise, we adjusted our schedule to only allow bookings on cruises going out on high tide and mid rising tide. In addition, we have been in conversation with the town about the scheduling of the emergency dredging of the channel. There is no problem with the marina. We were also able to get a copy of the chart being used for the planning of the dredge that now allows us to see the depth of the channel better. This information has allowed us to add back another cruise until dredging is completed. So the need to worry about the tides has been reduced. I am sure had we gone out, after we unloaded the other two couples, as you wanted, you would have had a great time! We still couldn’t go out because we will always err on the side of safety for our passengers. The pictures that our passengers take are real and capture that moment in time that will provide a life time of memories. So on your next visit to Charm City (Baltimore); we would love to have you go sailing with us. You can see that sailing with us is more about sailing and less about being stuck in the mud. Once again thank you for your review and comments. We are looking forward to seeing you on the Bay!
