We offer a year-round season of professional shows (adult actors performing for families and classes), after-school programs and summer camps for ages 1-18, and arts-integration professional development training for teachers, students, schools, and families. All of our programs are informed by our core belief in making the arts inclusive and accessible to all children, regardless of their physical, cognitive, or financial status.

We went to see Beauty and the Beast and it was truly wonderful. It was very professional and the actors were absolutely great. But the theater appeared to have no heat! I wore my coat the entire show and our feet were frozen by the time we left. We were not exactly dressed for skiing, just wore normal winter clothing.... More

Took my 6 year old and 2 year old grandchildren to see Beauty and the Beast. It was a tremendous production, very professional. My grandchildren were mesmerized for the entire performance. As an adult, I enjoyed the performance as well, it was so well done. The theater is a kind of theater in the round or 3/4 round so that... More

The theater is intimate and is conveniently located in the heart of old downtown Bethesda. There is ample parking in the multi-tiered public garage right next door. The play (Frog and Toad - just like the children's book series) was aimed at young children, with lots of bright colored costumes, fun music, and terrific dancing. My granddaughter was enthralled. The... More

I have been to three shows on the main stage over the last two or three years. The shows have all been excellent--fun for young children and parents alike. The theater is comfortable, inviting, and quite small, so no matter where you sit you will be close to the action.

One of the venues that has most impressed me since moving to DC a few years ago is the Imagination Stage. With live theatrical productions for babies, toddlers and kids alike, Imagination Stage is a wonderland for bringing out the creativity in children, ages 1-10. The staff is very engaged and the programs, including summer camps and classes during the... More

Luckily for us the Imagination Stage is only 15 minutes from home. This theater was founded to make arts accessible to children and in this regard it shines. From wonderful shows to classes, this place has it all. Pros: location (Bethesda), physical space, variety of shows, engaged and friendly staff, prices Cons: none. If your son or daughter is an... This is the venue to bring your kids to, to develop a taste for the theater. Great acting, intimate venue, and fun productions. The play I saw, Double Trouble, may be geared towards older children, however. Check this place out.

My granddaughter and I caught the Thursday performance of Double Trouble. She is 9 and we both enjoyed it immensely. The cast was super talented and theater was beautiful. We are from Texas and found the theater easily using the free trolley service from the metro station. I would highly recommend taking children to this theater while visiting DC.
