Timeless Short Sands
Jul 2021
Short Sands is such a neat spot, right in downtown and with good parking nearby. The beach itself is small but you can walk quite a ways out and the water isn't deep. On this beautiful July day the water was tolerable. I don't really like the arcade right there, but there is a timeless feeling to York Short Sands. It is like stepping back in time to my teen years, there has been little change to the beach. Bring drinks and snacks, and don't forget to visit Goldenrod for the salt water taffy.

Nice Beach
Jun 2021
Two friends sharing a nice hot day at the beach. Nice breeze to cool us, but it sent our cheap umbrella flying and turning inside out. Invest in a better umbrellas or a sturdy beach tent. I will. 5 stars because it was not the beach's fault. It was mine. Great place for families, seniors. teens and adults. Sand is HOT HOT HOT! Wear beach shoes. Flip flops not the best choice. Barefoot - you'll be sorry! Children need to be wearing shoes, hats, and other protective clothing. Food, drinks, arcade and shops right there. Decent metered parking. Could use more handicapped spots. On a really hot day, bring lots of cold beverages unless you want to keep walking around buying them. Nice crowd of people there. No outrageous behavior. Clean restrooms. Be careful of drop off at beach depending on the tide. Have been many times. Took my children there years ago. Will continue to visit. Am in my mid 70's.

A nice place for a quick visit; free and good for families
May 2021
We ran by here during Memorial Day weekend. It seems like a nice spot to watch the waves come in on stormy days (which is was 2 out of 4 days of the holiday) and the crowd seemed fine for families and children. Not sure how the parking situation is, because we rented a place just down the street with a water view, so we just walked there. Free to roam, which I guess is an advantage over other places.

Evening drive
Sep 2020 • Couples
We drove here before sunset and walked around. Most of the shops were closed but we enjoyed the quiet. We strolled up the hill by the union bluff hotel, great evening view and they had some fires and seats up there.

Perfect

We love this small beach! Go early to get a spot since high tide makes it tight. Ample parking, walking distance to village treats, and clean public restrooms.

When COVID was not an issue they also have a great playground.

Small but nice on a quiet day
Aug 2020
This is a clean but very small beach. All parking in the area is metered. We had a hotel only steps from this beach, so we did not have a problem with space, but on a busy day, finding a spot might be a problem.

Clean and handy to our hotel.

Was a busy weekend due to the beautiful weather. People were decent about keeping at least 6 feet apart and following the rules during the COVID Pandemic.

Beach and stores

A nice small beach on the shoreline of Atlantic Ocean within area with lots of attractions. This is a beautiful beach with all the local attractions nearby. This beach is very crowded during the summer, not so much during the Winter or Fall due to the weather. It is worth visiting but like most summer beach place, it is hard to find parking and can get super crowded.

Great Beach
Aug 2019 • Family
This was a great beach with plenty of parking. Great little town with food and shops right there. The beach is clean and well kept. The girls had a blast collecting sea glass. I recommend going here.
