I've always love Long Sands! It's beautiful and very clean! It's always crowded when I go but I went this past weekend and it wasn't at all crowded (off-season) the beach is lovely to walk on. The view is incredible!

I love Long Sands beach - there is plenty of room to spread out. The waves are too hard so swimming is possible - if you can handle the water temperature which was 63 when we were there.

in the fall this is a great beach to walk as its quiet and peaceful and the view is great. Mostly others walking the beach or sitting in chairs on the beach reading just enjoying the fresh air. A great place to go a relax for the day

Pros- lots of area for sunbathers. Public bathrooms in the center. Lifeguards. Beautiful scenery and can see Nubble Light out on the point at Sohier Park. Cons: all metered parking along the beach. Advantage to stay close by and walk, since there is no lot. Lots of seaweed and it is really smelly on the ends so sunbath more in... More

Beautiful beach(about 1 mile long) with great views. Low tide provides an enormous area of fairly hard sand for activities such as :sand castle building, bacci ball, kite flying, looking for shells, etc.High tide provides much less beach area.Swimming available @ all times. Lifeguards are on duty 8:30am to 4;30 pm. Float rafts and umbrellas are available to rent. One bath house... More

This is a nice beach, but I found it lacking in some ways. There is adequate parking, but it's on the street and is also metered (there is no dedicated parking for it such as an actual lot), so you have to bring a lot of quarters if you plan on staying all day. I just wanted to walk on... More

For those that don't want or need the "activity" the Short Sands Beach, Long Sands is the place to be, Downsides are the parking -- meters only, so you have to keep an eye on it and add as necessary. Also, at high tide, most of the beach is underwater except for a small area near the bath house (rest... More
