If the tide is out & there is parking it is a great spot for families with young kids.

The days of a back pack and a small cooler being my total beach packing set sail when we had kids. That said, Long Sands is a great beach for parents with young children 1. Clean... read more

The days of a back pack and a small cooler being my total beach packing set sail when we had kids. That said, Long Sands is a great beach for parents with young children 1. Clean public restrooms 2. If you can find parking you can park right along the beach. Great for moving little ones between the car and... More

Best beach when tide is out!!Not so good at high tide. Still it is my favorite. We always make a point of visiting when in the area.

A nice beach in southern Maine. We happened to arrive at low tide and it was very wide. Lots of room to play and not too crowded (even in August). There seemed to more people on the northern end of the beach. Parking is available on the street (15 min for 25 cents) if you get there early in the... More

Visited the Nubble Lighthouse at Long Sands Beach on a clear day. Was a fantastic place to take pictures. Disappointed that the actual lighthouse was off limits though. There is a food stand next door if you get hungry, and an ice cream stand within walking distance as well. We did not visit either - but they were both crowded.... More

Has metered parking in one direction only. Pretty beach but some parts are rocky and there is a lot of seaweed. Waves are bigger than at Short Sands Beach.

This was a beautiful spot for my kids to run and play in waves that weren't too huge for them. It was also not crowded at all, even in August. It is super rocky at high tide though, so be aware of that.

Making our way home we stopped here around 4 pm on a Monday. The tide was just going out, we found a meter pretty easily along the road, and we had plenty of space to spread our blanket. The crowd seemed to be mostly local folks who were living or vacationing nearby and there was a very relaxed vibe. Beach... More

Well if you are a Canadian or New Englander this is a pretty decent beach. Not a lot of rocks and a long stretch of flat sand beach (hence the name). And when the tide goes out you can dig for clams as well. For myself the attraction was the ocean and all of the rentals right across the street... More
