The zoo is surprisingly large and has a wide variety of different animals. The enclosures are all nicely sized and many were quite larger than what I've seen as some larger and more well-known zoos. We had gone after days and days of rain, so there were some spots with very large puddles that we had to navigate around, but the staff was in the process of trying to remove the water.

Bring quarters to purchase feed for the ducks, goats, and deer!

The amusement park isn't the best. The rides are fine for smaller kids, but nothing really for older children. Stick with the zoo and skip the rides.

They post their hours daily on their Facebook page so you can easily check to see if they are open or closed during any inclement weather.

Disclaimer: we love this zoo and will probably come back but this zoo has seen better days. I’m attributing the zoo part as a causality of COVID as we have been here before. The amusement park part is about the same. So the front half of the zoo has seen better days (We have seen it before when it was well maintained) and it seems a lot of the enclosures are overgrown and empty but the back half of the zoo is as we remembered it. There are a few empty exclosures that are not maintained but the back half is pretty nice and fun for the kids . In the front half the butterfly area is always popular with the kiddos. The amusement park is basically a permanent carnival. Looks like a lot is under construction so maybe they will be changing it up. I did doubt some of the safety of some of the rides.

At first we weren’t sure what we were getting in to. We had to walk through the building where video games go to die (dusty storage building). We were very happy to see monkeys playing when we exited the building. We loved the animals. The walk through parakeet exhibit was pretty awesome. They were all over our feet, it was wild. We were concerned that the goat feeding was done through a plastic tube. We were very happy to find out only a few goats had that. There’s a whole area of goats where you can go in with them and feed them. Caution, some of the goats can be a little aggressive when they want the food. The area to feed the deer was awesome too. The zoo itself could benefit from some up keep. The zoo keepers that we saw seemed to care for the animals and was cleaning and feeding them, so I’d say that’s more important than cut grass. I noticed they were hiring so they might be short employees to do the upkeep. The amusement park was not fully running, but my 5 year old grandson was absolutely thrilled with the roller coaster! He love the scrambler too. Most of the employees who ran the kiddie rides were very cheerful and very good with kids. Sad that the fun houses are not functioning. DO NOT waste your time & money on the mini golf. It is in desperate need of fixing, cleaning, and maintenance. Very poor condition. They should close that until necessary repairs can be done. Overall we had a good time and happy we checked it out.

This zoo needs to be shut down. The animals were baking in the 90+ degree heat, they looked hopeless, hot, bored, and miserable in their cages (would not even call them enclosures). The lioness was laying in the heat close to the humans almost as if she was asking for help- or she was so bored, she was watching them to pass the time. The electric fence in the lion cage was super sketchy as well. They had no water feature, no toys for enrichment.. it was a disaster. The other animals looked just as bored with nothing to do in their way-too-small cages. The poor Kangaroo was laying down and not hoping around because he was so miserable in his tiny cage. Only two staff members were friendly and the grounds looked like an abandoned circus. Animal rights are very lax when it comes to animal displays. This zoo left us feeling awful that we gave them our money because it is clearly NOT going to the animals. It gets a one star because the cages were very clean, but that was about it. This zoo reflects so poorly on the community of York, Maine. I would suggest NOT supporting this awful place.

Great visit with our 3 1/2 and 17 mo. old grandkids. For a zoo that's private and without any public funding they do a great job with a fine mix of animals. Most are close-up and the park is a nice size. Food is available and it's reasonably priced

I have not been to this zoo in years and decided to go again .Wow it is so run down the area surrounding the cages have overgrown vegetation not well kept at all . Most cages are rusty and look in poor shape the food vendor buildings are in need of paint and some need to be rebuilt the front gate is not appealing at all . It needs so much work at this point I am concerned for the animals living there . I'm not sure if the lack of upkeep is due to the pandemic but I remember it being like this in the 1980. That is why I never went back..

We visited in August 2020 during COVID, therefore, all of the rides except three were shut down. This place needs a little love. Grass and plants are overgrown, some things desperately need a coat of paint. Animals looked healthy however the swans and ducks swim in a pond that is full of algae or at least that’s how it appeared. Not really sure what it was. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My two kids loved it and that’s really all that matters. A little upkeep and sprucing up would make this a really fun place to visit!

Horrible just plain horrible! This zoo should be closed down. Most of this zoo is run down and following apart. The few new cages were empty Most of their animals are goats! The one Cat they have was a large tiger who limps and moaned the whole time we were there. Peta should step in. The duck pond was green slime, disgusting. Dead ducks floating in the slime. Save your money!

I remember going to this park when I was younger (about 10 years ago) and it was an amazing experience then. I had a fun time riding all of the rides. However, after recently going, it drastically changed my perspective on this park. The whole park was completely overgrown and it seriously needs some renovation and revamping. None of the old rides that I remembered were still running. In fact, The ride area was roped off and I could see the old rides with grafiti on them. The animal enclosures need more help, as they haven't been cared for enough and some of the animals just look sad and distressed. The pond that the ducks swim through is a horrifying bright green color, and it just makes you a little sad to think that nobody has made them change these things... It makes me wonder why this zoo is still open....

The animals are poorly cared for. New born goats left in the sun, unable to walk and being trampled by other full grown goats… Heart breaking. Attendant would not help. Alpaca’s feet are so over grown they are not walking correctly. Larger cats are kept in closures with no stimulation or toys. Just a big blank cage. Several animals with no access to water. The park is run down, the animals cages are over grown.
