Located just miles from Downtown Portland, the Sable Oaks Golf Club offers the best of both worlds. This private golf club setting is tucked away like a hidden gem among all the conveniences of South Portland, Maine - the Maine Mall and Portland International Jetport are both just minutes away.

One of the best maintained and challenging tracks in southern Maine. Could benefit from a practice facility, very convenient location.

Although a bit soggy from Spring rains, the course is in excellent shape The greens survived the winter unscathed and are outstanding

I hope that you get a chance to play Sable Oaks and test your game. SO has a reputation as a very difficult golf course and it is, however if you leave your ego in the parking lot you can make a bunch of pars.

The course was in excellent condition. Greens and fairways excellent for this time of year. Still some wet spots but can't blame the course on how I played.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We are thrilled with how we came through the winter, and are very excited with the direction our new course superintendent is taking the golf course. Come back and see us in a few weeks when we have dried out a little bit, and greened up a little more! More

Sable Oaks is the best public course in the Portland Maine area. The course is always in excellent shape and the staff is courtesy and very polite. If you like a scenic course that offers the best golfing challenge, Sable Oaks is the course for you.

Golf course is in fantastic condition, and has been made easier over the years with removal of trees, new tee boxes, and expanded greens. More forgiving than when I first started playing here in the late 2000s. The staff which is under new management as of 2015 is friendly, and accommodating. Bar and beverage cart were reasonably priced, and well... More

This is a very stupid course. The had enough room for 14 lovely holes but squeezed in 18. One hole you tee ahead, and the next shot drops 150 feet. Ridiculous. One hole has a sign: welcome to our widest fairway hole. Ha!!! The fairway is about 50 feet wide and on the bias. Don't waste time or money here!

Gillian, Thanks for your review. Your review is very vague, but it sounds like you may be referring to our 12th hole, which is rated as the #1 handicap hole on the course. It features a 100 foot drop from the elevated fairway down to the green below. The 16th fairway which you also referred to is our widest fairway,... More
