Free to walk the grounds at your own pace. Lots to see and many plants on sale too. A nice little gift shop to visit makes an interesting stop.

McLaughlin Garden is one of those few special places on Earth that once you visit, you can't help but return to again and again. Over the last several years I've been happy to experience the growth in size and diversity of the garden. The paths through the garden are lined with of course, their hallmark , dozens and dozens of lilacs...which just happen to be in perfect bloom right now. The aroma is heavenly and the colors divine ! Also in the garden are varying species of perennials, huge firs, Japanese maples and a new kind of vase elm. My favorites are the many shade plants that are there. Such a cool , shady grove in the midst of our busy village !
A lovely pond accents the big red barn where local artists display their work and out front is a plant sales area where you can choose a bit of McLaughlin to take home. Inside the gorgeous old house, there are gardening gloves, books, cards, locally crafted items and more.
Just to top off all the beauty at McLaughlin Gardens, the staff and volunteers are always friendly, knowledgeable and willing to give advice.
A great destination for a summer afternoon. Relax and enjoy !

They are currently celebrating their 20th year, 2017. Visiting this place is such a divine experience. It is aromatic bliss! (The lilacs are in FULL BLOOM right now, and there are DOZENS of lilac trees and many varieties!!!) They have the "Lilac Festival" on Memorial Day Weekend, and sell many of the varieties of lilacs, as well as MANY other perennials! The prices are very fair for the quality of the plants.
We were there from start to finish, for close to two hours, milling the gardens. There is SO MUCH to see and discover in a relatively small space! Around every corner, there were several surprises!

The homestead offers the gift shop and has a variety of garden type/themed products and a small cafe type room/porch...with a few premade food items, teas (and coffee?) are available.

I'm excited to return in a few weeks and see what botanical treasures are booming next! I'll post photos of the lilacs, but leave the MANY other perennials unposted, for YOU to discover.

If you enjoy gardening, historical interest, fauna and flora ... this place won't disappoint!

We went for their Memorial Day Weekend lilac festival. For a $5.00 cover charge, you can stroll the grounds, buy a plant, see the historic barn and house. They had coffee and tea available in the house and a small gift shop. We were too late for the tour but enjoyed viewing the lilacs and other flowering trees and shrubs and walking a few of the trails (too buggy to last long, though). There were several benches and chairs throughout the grounds to rest or picnic, and lots of shaded areas. The lilacs were past peak, so it wasn't a 'wow' factor, and the place is small and not as impressive as other public gardens we've visited, but it was nice.

I visited twice his spring, once in early May for the wildflowers, just magical! A fairy garden of blooms up the wooded hillside. Lilac season was then a stunning follow up three weeks later, the wonderful smell, the beautiful gardens... it was lovely.

Great location to stop and smell the lilacs. Amazing number of different Hostas and very peaceful grounds make for a quiet moment. No cost to walk the garden and lots of plants for sale.

I have been visiting this garden for many years now - even before Mr. McLaughlin died. Beautiful collection of flowering plants, shrubs, and trees that flourish in northern climate. Plants are available for purchase. There is also a small but nice gift shop. This visit was just a walk around with a friend but I have been here for guided tours on other visits. Many programs are run throughout the season.

Lots of standard info but so many great resources for more in-depth use. This was my first "talk" here so will be on the lookout for more in the future. Looking forward to the Garden Illuminated event this summer!
