Vaughan Woods and Hamilton House, while technically separate entities, for all practical purposes are the same park. If you do one, you can do the other. The trails we would rate as easy, but they do have some distance to them, so allow enough time. The views are very nice, and trails themselves are well maintained. The Hamilton House was closed (gardens open) when were there basically because of the COVID but its great from the outside and the grounds are worth wandering around. Well worth the visit.

The trails at Vaughan Woods are lovely. They go along the Piscataqua River and through the woods. Long enough and with enough hilly sections to get your blood flowing but nothing too daunting or too long. Great for snowshowing too!

We love to walk the trails of this park in any season. There is semi-old growth forest along the trail which winds down along the Salmon Falls river. Trails can be icy in winter so bring traction for your boots. We have also spotted eagles and osprey hunting the river, a real treat!

Amazing walking trails, just a beautiful place. Waterfalls, rock bridges, stroll at your own pace. Take something to drink.

We were on vacation in southern Maine over Labor Day Weekend. We knew the beaches would be crazy on Labor Day, so we drove inland to find a nice hike. Vaughan State Park was perfect! Easy parking, restrooms (outhouse) at the start of the hike and beautiful scenery! There are many trails in the area and it’s an easy hike to the Hamilton House from the parking lot. We stayed along the water for quite a while. The trails are well maintained and decently well marked. This area felt very safe and we wish we’d had more time to spend here!
