I called the night before and was matched with three guys who play here a lot. Friendly, nice, helpful guys - pretty much like the guy behind the counter in the pro shop. Saved me a few shots through the day, too.

This is a very nicely maintained course. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Greens were also in great shape - and quick! The course offers a lot of variety - water, sandy bunkers, forced carries, fairways both wide and narrow, a challenging batch of par 3s. The 4 pars vary in distance and complexity. While Nonesuch is not a long course, even from the tips, accuracy is required to keep the ball in play. Pace of play was also excellent. We teed off at 7 and finished before 11.

I teed off with minimal expectations, but was thoroughly impressed by this course long before I finished my round. Thanks, Nonesuch!

I played the Nonesuch River Golf Club and found it to be very playable. The people at the pro-shop were very friendly and helpful with hints about playing certain holes. It is not along course and the greens were in good shape. Green fees are reasonable and I found the course very well maintained. I'll play it again for sure as the play was fast in the middle of the week.

Managed by the same group that does Dunegrass and Bridgton-Highland, the course is fun. Cart-path roots and rocks are a distraction for an otherwise great day of golf. From the first hole sharp-left, to the long par-5 on 18, good planning can make for a personal best.

Paid $73.00 greens fee plus cart. Overall the course is in poor condition. I have included 2 photos from the day I played.

Condition wise, It was one of the worst courses that I played this year. Definitely will not return

Nonesuch River golf club has a really nice track. Front nine is a bit more open and forgiving with water and sand traps to keep you honest while the back nice will challenge the pro golfer in all of us. The back nine is target golf with ravines through most fairways and most holes are 90 degree hard dog legs through the woods so there is no way to cut the corners. It is a very pretty course worth playing when in Portland. Even though the back nine chewed me up, I would play again any time.

My husband and I played Nonesuch golf course yesterday. After 4.5 hours we quit after 15.5 holes. Ahead of us, a twosome, there were 3 foursomes and THEN a fivesome who successfully backed up the pace of play making it most unpleasant for us and the 3 groups ahead of us. Upon listening to our complaint about the abysmal course management (I should say nonexistent) we were offered 2 free passes. 100 free passes could not entice us to return. Most disappointing!!! The pro shop said they spoke to the 5 men 3 times. So why were their privileges not suspended??? Course management at its finest!!!

Nonesuch features narrow, tree-lined holes and links-style holes - a nice mix of layouts that never seems to be terribly busy. The course is well-played, but well managed, too. A few holes allow you to truly open up with the driver, but many require a 210-225 tee shot (for some, a 2 or 3 hybrid) with some degree of accuracy.

I have been playing this course for several years now and it just gets better every year. There is a nice mix of hole difficulty levels. The management always seems to be making little improvements every year Fairways and greens are always the best around. The deck attached to the club house which over looks the course is a great spot to sit and relax after a round. The staff at this course are always pleasant and accommodating. There are two practice greens and a great driving range. The course is located just about 3 minutes off the Maine turn pike.
