Old school course with some interesting holes.

Walked on early one morning, rented clubs from the friendly staff, and walked to the first tee and played a highly enjoyable round with a nice local couple in @ 3:30. Like many... read more

I have been playing this course for several years now and it just gets better every year. There is a nice mix of hole difficulty levels. The management always seems to be making little improvements every year Fairways and greens are always the best around. The deck attached to the club house which over looks the course is a great... Walked on early one morning, rented clubs from the friendly staff, and walked to the first tee and played a highly enjoyable round with a nice local couple in @ 3:30. Like many courses, I would likely have saved several strokes if I knew how the holes played, where the winding river was, etc. Besides, how could anyone resist playing... More

Played an afternoon round on my visit to Portland. Third course I played between Dunegrass and Sable Oaks. Fair price point, and an enjoyable layout. No one around really at 2 PM on a weekday, so we flew around in 3 hours. Conditions were what I expected in comparison to the price point.

My wife and I like to play a round or two of golf when on vacation so Nonesuch and Dunegrass seemed two great choices. The first day was Nonesuch and I was surprised how peaceful things were. We played quickly and didn't hit a backup until the 17th hole. That's quite unusual. The course was in good shape and the... More

Managed by the same group that does Dunegrass and Bridgton-Highland, the course is fun. Cart-path roots and rocks are a distraction for an otherwise great day of golf. From the first hole sharp-left, to the long par-5 on 18, good planning can make for a personal best.

Nonesuch River golf club has a really nice track. Front nine is a bit more open and forgiving with water and sand traps to keep you honest while the back nice will challenge the pro golfer in all of us. The back nine is target golf with ravines through most fairways and most holes are 90 degree hard dog legs... More

Every year for the last ten years I have played this course when visiting family in Maine. It presents a challenge for an old duffer like myself, but the layout offers some great views in the woods. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Great hot dogs available in the club house overlooking the 9th and 18th greens.

My husband and I played Nonesuch golf course yesterday. After 4.5 hours we quit after 15.5 holes. Ahead of us, a twosome, there were 3 foursomes and THEN a fivesome who successfully backed up the pace of play making it most unpleasant for us and the 3 groups ahead of us. Upon listening to our complaint about the abysmal course... More

Great 18 hole track. Always well maintained. Front nine plays out in rolling parallel fairways while back nine disappears back into the woods. Lots of challenge even on the shorter holes, narrow fairways and well kept greens. We summer in the area and play here often. Go mid to late afternoon and the setting coming in on 18 with late... Nonesuch features narrow, tree-lined holes and links-style holes - a nice mix of layouts that never seems to be terribly busy. The course is well-played, but well managed, too. A few holes allow you to truly open up with the driver, but many require a 210-225 tee shot (for some, a 2 or 3 hybrid) with some degree of accuracy.
