Fun Music Trip

My husband and I had a visit here while running my mom on an errand. Mike was unbelievable! He was fun to talk with, historian in music and challenged me to ask him for anything I wanted on vinyl.
I asked him got Freddie King the Burglar LP. He said ok I’ll be back and was gone about 10 minutes but reappeared with a perfect condition vinyl that I could not have found anywhere.
Only charged me $20 which I felt was fair for this masterpiece.
I look forward to a return trip someday and hope he’ll have Wes Boss ;)

BIG SELECTION, BUT PRICES WERE HIGHER THAN AVERAGE

After several days of vacation in Maine, I headed home via Sanford. I’d been to Mike’s Music a couple of times but found it closed. This time, it was open. I stopped in. It was located in the Island Shoppes strip mall.

The place was half well-organized with CD’s and vinyl records neatly arranged in bins and half chaotic with many small boxes of things scattered everywhere. Walking the narrow path among the boxes was like walking through a minefield.

The owner wasn’t there during my visit. He had someone watching the place while he ran errands.

I went through some boxes and a couple of bins of new and used CD’s. I found the prices there considerably higher than at other music stores and bookstores that sell CD’s. Some new CD’s were $18.99. Many used CD’s were $10.00 or more. Consequently, I did not buy anything there.

One favorable thing I will say is that he had quite a collection of posters, CD’s, and vinyl.

Due to the much higher-than-average pricing and disorganization, I cannot rate this store any higher than 2.50.

I'll stick with the two other book-record stores I’ve been getting used CD’s from in 100% perfect condition at anywhere from 99 cents to $2.00, $4.00, and $6.00.

What a crazy place!

MIke's Music is fun. It is a little like a time warp and a little like a flea market. Tons of vinyl, posters, etc. packed into a small shop in a little "strip mall" on Main Street.

We're ALWAYS looking for something off the beaten path while on vacation AND THEN the "Mike's Music" Sign caught our eyes! Do you miss the artwork of an album cover? Do you loose all sense of time while thumbing through racks of records? We do! Walls and racks of music PACK this place! Can't find what your looking for....they are more than willing to go the extra mile to help you find that obscure title in their basement!!! They even played a song for me while there. Going to miss them but will stop by every time we visit the area. Miss them already.
