We picked A Morning in Maine for a daysail because we wanted to get on the water during a whirlwind autumn color trip through New England. Capt Bob was very accommodating in rearranging his schedule to fit ours. The light air conditions made the sailing less than exhilarating but Bob's knowledge of the area and particularly his knowledge about lobstering more than made up for the light conditions. Next time (and we will sail with Bob again) we'll pick a day woth more winf!

We think you'll really like the new skipper of Morning in Maine as well! We look forward to sailing with you when you are back in the area, Bob will still be running a few trips, too!

My wife and I took the two-hour morning cruise out past Owls Head Lighthouse and to a few surrounding islands. This cruise really surpassed our expectations! Captain Tyler is an excellent guide and took great care of us. He had a deep knowledge of the history of Rockland and its maritime heritage, and even though you just know he has been asked the same touristy questions over and over again, he was thoughtful and detailed in his answers. I also have to give a shoutout to his first mate, who was a pleasure to have with us on the ship. As for the ship, A Morning in Maine, it is a beautiful windjammer which glided effortlessly across the open ocean on what Captain Tyler described as a perfect day for sailing. I thought it was going to be a much rougher and jerky ride! It was a thrill to watch the Captain turn off the boat engine and unfurl the sails once we left the harbor. Along the way, we saw porpoises, a seal nonchalantly floating on its back next to the ship, and half a dozen bald eagles soaring across the ocean and among the trees as we sailed along the coast of one of the islands. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience! At about $50 per person, we think it is a bargain as well. Book the cruise!

Our sail on ”A Morning in Maine” last week with visiting family members was a very enjoyable experience and we recommend it for Summer visitors and locals alike. Captain Tyler Waterson made the trip fun and informative with stories of the Rockland/Owls Head area’s history as we sailed out of the harbor and past the historic Breakwater Lighthouse. The beauty of the Maine Coast is best seen from the water. A 2 hour sail on ”A Morning in Maine” is a wonderful, memorable, and very reasonably priced way to get out there.

My wife and I had a wonderful sunset sail with A Morning in Maine on July 8th. Tyler and his crew are warm and welcoming professionals who truly delight in sharing their corner of coastal Maine. Although we have a fair amount of time on the water, it'd be easy for even the most inexperienced sailor or boater to feel like they are in very capable hands onboard this boat. The crew's relaxed and laid-back vibe contributes to the experience, and it is plain to see just how well-maintained the boat is both topside and below. Tyler's expertise was put to the test as he sailed us safely among and around the schooner fleet moored in Rockland Harbor that evening. We stayed dry despite the storms brewing in the distance and were treated to a spectacular sunset just off Owl's Point Light, with seals surfacing right alongside us. Need more than 5 green circles to accurately rate our experience - thank you for a wonderful sail to cap off our summer vacation!

Had a great time with 2 friends who had never sailed before. The stable motion of the boat put them at ease, the scenes of lighthouses, deep blue waters and rocky coastline was very impressive. Captain Tyler had lots of stories to share about the history of the area, the other boats we saw on the horizon, the seals and birds. It was a natural conversation in an informal relaxed style. George, the mate, was equally open, friendly and informative as we chatted while a turn aI took a turn at the helm. Both friends are already talking about coming back, and I certainly want to try the 'sail to an island and take a hike' trips that may be coming up soon!

As new residents of Rockland, we opted to celebrate a birthday aboard A Morning in Maine - and are so glad we did. The ketch is a beautiful vessel, providing a unique perspective of Rockland Harbor, Penobscot Bay, and the stunningly beautiful Maine coast. Captain Tyler and his crew are not only stalwart sailors, they also are expert tour guides, dispensing historical anecdotes, pointing out scenic highlights, calling attention to marine wildlife, educating all of us on how the vessel operates, patiently answering tourist questions — all while safely steering our course out and back. We loved it - and can’t wait to welcome out of town friends and family so we can share the experience with them!

Tyler was 5-star from hello to see you next time! He was extremely cheerful, polite, and informative. Very knowledgeable about the area and its shoreline. The experience was very relaxing! The weather didn't hurt! ;-)
I would highly recommend sailing with A Morning in Maine at the 1:00 sail time. Great winds which allowed us to see so much more than I had anticipated. Thank you again Captain Tyler!

Captain Tyler (and his first mate) gave us an outstanding excursion cruise, replete with great communication, a warm and welcoming greeting, gracious, helpful attitudes. thorough attention to safety, great knowledge of the region/marine life/marine history, all delivered in a fun, amiable atmosphere! The ship was well maintained, the cruise was beautiful and comfortable and we’re already looking forward to our next experience with A Morning in Maine! I can’t recommend this boat enough. I think I can speak for all the passengers that the experience went well beyond that of being worth every penny!

Tyler and George were gracious and informative hosts on our sunset sail. Our 10 year old received his first sailing lesson and was able to spend a good amount of time steering the boat. We caught great views of Owls Head Light and the Rockland breakwater light. The sunset was pretty and we were even graced by an appearance of a seal. We've done several sunset sails around New England and truly appreciated the smaller size/capacity of this tour. Everyone had a great view and there were even blankets for when it got chilly.

I am so glad we booked this trip! We were visiting coastal Maine for the Lobster Festival and I was telling my husband that I wanted to see just one of the 4,000+ islands up close. I was pleasantly surprised that A Morning in Maine had a booth set up and that the 2-hour trip included sailing past one of the many islands. The captain was awesome....my husband asked about 200 questions and he patiently answered every one of them. The crew were skilled and the entire excursion was the highlight of our trip - well, second to the eating-lobster part.
